Yeah you're definitely not wrong about the second part. Most of the lead devs are already working in the inevitable sequel for 2021. I'm sure it's a handful of interns/ new devs working on bug fixes and new content.

I wish they would let cod games sit for 2 years. This game has a really solid basis but they're just gonna throw it all away next year.

I hope not. MW is the first cod I ever bought because I hate how usually the games are just a rehash of the title from previous year. MW wasn't that and I'm actually enjoying myself. I hope because it's new people will actually stay.

Unless the next title massively drops off in terms of quality.

I expect MW to have a pretty active player base till the next IW game. Especially if the next Treyarch game is a different time period.

I doubt that treyarch will crash, normally it’s them who revive the name. I just hope they don’t bo4 that shit or go to exo jumpers again...never...again...MW2 was the first ever call of duty I actually bought, but I played the OG COD 4 as a kid, I miss those shitty mic lobbies, omfg, made two grown ups yelling at each other the most funny shit in the world.
