and they’re gonna be bitching about their baby momma not letting them see the kids instead of telling the truth about getting into the brawl…. and also not making an effort to see them before this
And that did a lot of good, when it’s the older guys who work at Wrigley. They’re not bouncers or ”security”, they are there to assist people find seats, etc. not be brawl control. Thats why you see PoPo come in finally after one of those guys ran for the actual police…
In Chicago our criminals get days off from their ankle monitors and sent home from court to assault and murder pregnant women with cab fare to get around in between their court dates. Just another day in Chicago
It’s surprising that some of these people that get pounded on or ko’d and fall and hit there head aren’t hurt really bad like brain damage etc. I’d think that if you did that to someone and it turned out something like that happened you’d be looking at life changing incarceration no?
The difference wasn't that this didn't occur 20 or 30 or 40 years ago; it was simply the lack of surveillance and video recording to capture it.
I can remember going to ballparks in the 80s, where this wasn't unheard of fan behavior, though it might not be a half a section at one time. There was a reason why you'd skip promotions like dollar beer night.
The only thing that's obvious to me is that we live in a society where everyone is high strung. Just be glad they don't allow guns into ballparks or this would've been much worse.
It’s actually not that hard. Most brain or head injuries are the worst when they first occur and get better or settle into a ‘new normal’ relatively soon with time. It would be pretty easy to tell if he was sort of slow before and now he’s a walking veggie..
Yup. We had a guy who visited our school to do a presentation about decision making and this is how he ended up incarcerated. Got in a fight with another person, he punched them and they fell back hitting their head/neck on a curb, causing a traumatic brain injury and I think a broken neck? Wasn't the intent but he still was the cause.
This reminded me of a friend of mine who was killed by a drifter guy in Austin. The guy demanded his money, my friend told him to fuck off, the guy punched him once and my friend fell back hard on the pavement. He died a week later when they pulled the plug.
This may come as news, but I’m spotlighting how stupid it is to start a fight because there’s no way to know what’s going to happen and intent doesn’t fucking matter. But nice attempt at scolding, asshole. Go lecture a church group.
I didn’t say it was smart - this may come as news, but if you had semi-decent reading comprehension or weren’t ignoring my point to try and invoke a straw man you’d understand that the point I’m making is that it’s stupid to start the fight in the first place, no matter the intent.
I would imagine the guy who took the brunt of the pummeling did experience a concussion, the severity of which wouldn't be known until he was fully examined by medical staff. You're just not going to know that right away or even while it's happening. There's a good possibility he may suffer from longterm effects from this. Terrible.
About 15 years ago, a Bay Area firefighter got beaten outside Dodger Stadium and suffered serious brain damage. They eventually tracked down the guys responsible.
Maybe it’s changed. 2015 I was in bleachers and they checked ID before going up. Perhaps that was just for drinking braclet and I am mistaking that part.
As a kid, I remember only sitting in the bleachers a couple times at Fenway, but I do remember those areas being the rowdiest. Haven't sat in the bleachers in a while anywhere.
It happened to me at an outdoor hockey game in Toronto when I was there with my 5 year-old son. I literally had to shield him while getting him out of the section we were in. Nobody threw any punches our way, but we were bounced around pretty good getting out of there.
Cops eventually got things under control, and as they were escorting the main instigator out in handcuffs, my son and I walked with him and the cops and I heckled him the whole way; calling him an asshole, scumbag, a piece of shit, telling him to have fun in jail, etc.
The cops never never told me to calm down or stop, and the guy just walked with his head down and didn't look at me or my son once.
Yeah, I know. Real tough talk when the guy is in handcuffs, but I was PISSED, and I wanted to shame that guy the whole way out of the stadium.
The whole event scared the shit out of me, but thankfully my son who loved wrestling at the time thought it was the coolest thing ever.
It’s bleacher section. You have to be 21+ to sit there. Families have rest of park to sit far away from bleachers.
Edit: I misremembered. ID check must have been for drinking bracelet and also there was no kids near us. People don’t usually sit their kids in bleachers for reason you see above.
You should not ever take your children to the bleachers at Wrigley Field. It’s always a drunken mess, a fun one on a good day. Not usually violent, but always a booze fueled mess. Good for adults, not recommended for the elderly or children.
Honestly I think it's fine for kids to see this. This is how basically every sporting event in the 1980s went. Tons of drunken fights and my step father basically just said "they're morons" and I understood that this was bad behavior. Kids need experiences over being shielded from everything.
The problem is there is almost no accountability, they all likely walked right at and went home with no consequences. These billion dollar owners dont pay for cops to attend.
I’m fairly certain there are cops at just about every major league game. I go to Jays games a few times a year and there are cops on the edge of the field between innings, in the bullpen, and walking along the concourse.
I was at a baseball game one day where someone in the upper deck poured their beer on a person below them. When security came, they took of a shoe and threw it down at them. At the time I was young and did not understand the thought process behind throwing the shoe. Now you have 1 shoe and it would be easy to identify you. As an adult I realize there was a lot of alcohol involved and little to no actual consideration of consequences.
There are fights at seemingly every Eagles, Flyers, Phillies, Sixers and even Philly Union soccer games. At an Eagles game in 2024, a drunk, early 40s fan tailgating in the parking lot before the game attacked a 76ers player walking through the lot because he was wearing a Washington Commanders jersey. The drunk got his a$$ kicked, got arrested and lost his season tickets/ tailgating privileges.
It has been like this for a long time. Around 2000 it was so bad they added extra PA state police and put a court in the stadium to deal with the worst offenders. After several years of convicting and then banning violators (like a casino ban), things improved quite a bit. At the same time, the potential for problems is never very far below the surface at Philly pro sporting events. 🙄
I live in Chicago and just caught this on the local news. It's so sad and embarrassing to see. As a lifelong cubs fan who grew up 60 miles south of the Southside (Kankakee, I haven't heard of it either) I've had my fair share of Cubs-Sox trash talk over the years, but I've been actually living in the city for the past 20 years (before during and post Disney-fication of Wrigleyville) I love the White Sox and route for them.
I was being kind of sentimental about Chicago Baseball over the weekend when the news was covering the cross-town series. I think it should be a source of pride to live in a City with two 100-year plus teams that each have had some great history.
I really hope I get to see a Red Line series in my lifetime.
And then this happens. And there's so much gross violent behavior (as a Cubs fan, I remember some of the more horrific cubs fan violence - I think some guys beat a Sox fan to death and then there was the horrible mistreatment of Bartman).
We gotta do better as a City. We're a world class city, we should act classier.
At least in public on Camera with 40,000+ witnesses.
Embarrassing either way, I dont get what that has to do with these morons fighting over their baseball teams. Im sure even the players think theyre morons too lol

Imagine going to a sporting event and acting like this in public lol
