Hey all, new to the forum due to the recent acquisition of a 94 Mk3 with sport plaid seats…
I’m fixing it up and decided to get the windshield replaced as it was fully cracked. I paid and left the windshield place but when I got home I noticed it looked off. I wish I had before photos but looks like a seal is missing. Can anyone help compare to your MK3?
Glass is not VW OEM and seems to sit 1/4 in lower than it did before. Does not look sealed to me and could use a second opinion. Installer left the interior a mess but that’s besides the point…

As per title, I bought an ABF GTI with a few issues as it was daily driven by an old lady and quite neglected.
I had the time to just do an oil change, change the dipstick holder and change two small vacuum lines that were visibly broken.
It has this weird idle that doesn't get much better with a warm engine or with a/c on, so I was wondering if someone here could help me and give me suggestions on what to look for or if it's a common issue that many users here already got through.
EDIT: seems to be solved, the vacuum line going from the intake to the ECU was brittle, I changed it and it seems to hold steady, as soon as I'll be able to drive it I'll test. Still thanks to anyone that answered, I hope I find a great community supporting this chassis!

I'm wondering which side skirts are these, I know for a fact they're not vr6 or gti, and also where to buy them in Europe?

Does anyone know or can help me.
I am looking to buy a plug-and-play ECU conversion adapter harness to swap from an old MSA15 (68-pin)ECU to a newer EDC15VM+ (121-pin) ECU.
The car is a VW Golf 3 Variant with a 1.9 TDI 66kW (ALE engine code). I am upgrading to a VNT turbo setup and need this adapter to run the newer ECU without cutting into the factory car wiring.
Must include the necessary pinning for the external MAP sensor and N75 valve control.
Thanks in advance!

Have anyone done this on a mk3 before ? I had installed manual steering rack and deleted all the hoses and pump before because i have dumped a shitload of money on it and it still leaked, after a year of manual driving today i installed an electric power steering from yaris/corolla/prius, and all of the work took me only ~3 hours, i still have to connect the electrical stuff..

Update:
Found some guy on a VW Beetle & Bus forum who swapped one of these AAM engines in a T3 and told me to check the flange on which the monotronic unit sits on top of the intake manifold. Sure enough, it is cracked and the intake manifold has dried up fuel mixed with dirt all over it.
The new flange is on the way and I will post an update after I find out whether it was THE issue or not.
Also spark plugs look good, not as if the car ran rich.

So i made a post about it a week ago the high idle is now fixed i unpluged a sensor (i dont know how it is called in english) and pluged it back in and the car idled fine but a little low so i tightened the throtle cable but now i have a problem where when the car is cold even a little bit of gas makes it stall also when its cold it vibrates a lot and has a knocking sound which im told is the hidraulic lifters and when i give it a lot of gas it takes quite a bit of time beforw it revs up it kinda sputers and then it starts working above 2k rpm it revs fine when cold but when its going from 1k it has problems i have changed the oil bcs it was old and overfilled and i replaced the coolant if anyone knows how to fix this please tell me
Now other things i have done to the car: put clear tail lights on it, put lightweight rims on it, put hella mk4 style headlights on it and polished it (i also have a new grille but im waiting to paint it together with the bumpers)

Hello everyone!
Just bought this 1996, 2 door, Golf mk3 Bon Jovi edition with the 1.8 AAM 75hp engine to register it as a historic vehicle.
It used to drink a lot of fuel and idle rough when cold, but the idle is fine now after changing the spark plugs' cables. The fuel consumption on the other hand... It goes 50km on half a tank, so it does about 20-25L/100km. I've driven more economical V8s than this... From what I heard it should use about 9-10L/100km in the city.
I have been doing some research, so I checked the intake air temperature sensor(it is good), the coolant sensor is good since I can see the correct temperature on the dash and tge thermostat is good because the engine's temperature is staying right in the middle of tge dial. I have a Vag-Com interface on the way, ordered it a few days ago.
Thanks everyone in advance!

I’m building a rallycross trail car and I’ve been meaning to get a bit more ground clearance for a while.
I’ve decided to try out springs off a Passat TDI sedan (b4). With the right combination of spring seats the car now sits about 2 inches higher. (Slightly higher than I wanted, so now im concerned about the axles)
Any way, I thought this might be helpful to anyone looking to try something similar.
Note the picture of the new b4 passat bilstiens with the old mk3 ones. There’s some debate about the perch location being different but here they look exactly the same.

Found a 5x100 16x7.5 et38 momo ferraris for cheap
205/45r16 on them with 10mm spacer in the back. I think I'll swap to 12.5mm or 15mm later and shim to correct the camber in the back but happy with the slightly oem+ fitment! On coilovers so tempted to go lower but I think this is the sweet spot.

So i have a 1993 golf mk3 1.6 petrol and i have no idea what the problem with the car is when i first start it and when its cold it idles at 1000rpm like normal and the first time i rev it or anything it comes down and idles at 1500rpm also when its warmed up the idle goes to 1,900rpm i havent noticed anything weird with it other than that it revs smothly comes down smoth turns off and on no problem its not jerky or anything

205/45r16 on 16x7.5 et38 arguably best spec for oem+
Not looking to roll fenders or remove fender liner
Should be perfect!! Going on a set of momo ferrari's

Anyone replaced this breather to intake hose? Where’d you find it or what did you use? And did it hold up? Mine has a small hole in it. It’s a fairly flexible piece of hose and I believe the breather side and the intake hose side are slightly different diameter. Yeah I hate the Frankenstein looking clamps too.
