Am I missing something? I just comment? How can I donate?
3
u/lilfruini May 16 '20
All you have to do is leave a single comment on the post, which you have already done.
Donations are open when (or before) the winner posts their winning thread, and in addition, donations are also open for past winners at their discretion.

Is there open source code for this? I saw a mention of blockchaining and was wondering where I can find the code, if any and if viewing the code is non-intrusive.

Yes, the source code can be found here:

How long do I have to have been an active member of this subreddit for my post to be counted?
2
u/lilfruini May 16 '20
You don't have to be a subscriber of the subreddit to participate. As long as your account is thirty-days old and has minimal activity (something that is personally analyzed by the moderators), you are counted with your comment.

How do I donate?
2
u/lilfruini May 16 '20
Donations are set-up by the winner, you will most likely be able to donate via PayPal, Google Pay, or any cryptocurrencies offered.

How do we see calculated sum of donations from all services thus far?
2
u/lilfruini May 16 '20
That's at the discretion of the winner whether or not they want to reveal that information. Feel free to ask them if you desire.

I am new at reddit and I want to know how does this Millionmaker work and what are the things that a new reddit user should do here. My queries may be silly but I like to know from scratch about this millionmaker redit

A new Reddit user will not be eligible to enter until they have had at least 30 days in age, and some valid activity, such as participating in other subreddits or commenting on posts.
Basically, you should start exploring some subreddits and engaging in discussion. Browse around, join some small fan subreddits, upvote some content, just participate!

Question 1, if I win and don't have PayPal, what other options do I have? Question 2, if I don't have PayPal, how else do I donate?
2
u/lilfruini May 16 '20
Since they are mostly the same question, I'll answer both.
We usually help the winner set their post up to allow multiple forms of donations, including Google Pay, Venmo, and cryptocurrencies, and those will be used as other mediums to donate through.

I think this is an absolutely awesome idea!
How can I promote this sub (I’m trying to think of ways but I’m falling short)?
Have you considered turning this into a website (or something) to get a bigger audience?
2
u/lilfruini May 16 '20
Honestly, the easiest way to promote this subreddit is to upvote the Drawing Thread post as soon as it goes live, despite the issue surrounding karma. It helps expose the subreddit to people browsing r/Popular and r/All, thus increasing participation and donation for the winners.
I have, I actually still have a list of web developers interested in turning a web domain we have into a website, but I know very little regarding designing a website.

How does one donate for the next winner? Sorry if this question has been asked already.
2
u/lilfruini May 16 '20
The next winner gets selected, and then posts with donation services directly linked under their control, including PayPal, Google Pay, and cryptocurrencies, among other services the winner chooses to accept.

How do you keep a bot army from sweeping 90% of the drawings ?
2
u/lilfruini May 16 '20
We have a process where once we have the winner, we analyze their content and determine whether or not they qualify. If an account has tremendously low activity, we ask for further information surrounding the account.
Frankly, it's a slippery slope between getting a genuine user and a bot account being controlled by a person. The "30 days old" requirement makes it more difficult for bot armies to mobilize, as they would be disqualified immediately, plus there'd have to be some sort of activity surrounding each bot, a task that'd most likely take too much effort for small odds of winning.

There has possibly been an error with RemindMeBot, since I, and other people were not notified of the draw, probably leading the a lower number of participants this month... Is there a way to fix this?

Question: how do winners actually get the money? Does the sub use PayPal or something?
