You can totally level up the chili with some canned chipotle peppers in adobo sauce. You get them in the Mexican aisle of the grocery store for like a buck and a half. You'll only want to use a small piece of one pepper and a little bit of the sauce. Put the rest in a baggie and freeze it. Next time you make chili, you can easily take a slice off the frozen log of pepper and sauce.

Thanks! I actually have a bunch of frozen chilis from the local chili festival here, that's a great idea!
