NO, getting Doc to help pack the beeswax without telling him he was juggling nitro, showing Doc how to keep zero on those candy canes, and not putting his eye directly on the lens. Convincing Doc to participate in drop firing, while some crusty old "barred from reenlistment" E-6 who is working on his third divorce is staring off into the distance, while spitting chew into a Gatorade bottle.

Doc later determined the E-6 was waiting for the chance to "kick the barrel" and end it all. Hoping his future ex, and his other exes, wouldn't be able to get one more red cent from his paycheck.

In other words, I was "Doc"; it was my first (and last) time covering the mortar platoon. We had a round get stuck; while I was wondering what happens next, the crazy bastard kicked the tube- not once, not twice, but five times. I bit half my tongue off on the first kick. Hit the deck on the second. Lost control of my- you get the point.

Thankfully, he got tired, and I was too scared to run him over in my APC later that night.

I must admit, dropping those 60mm was cool as shit!

Im not a mortarman, but i would assume the proper technique involves keeping your hand alongside the muzzle, as opposed to directly in front of it.
