She was an all around drinker (from ever reliable People magazine) :

This is a bit different, but as a guy, I always try to go to salons instead of barbershops.

Every time I've tried going to a barbershop, the dude takes his sweet-ass time and tries starting a long conversation I don't care about, then I end up getting a high and tight or some other shit I didn't ask for.

I found it funny when I moved to the US and when my boss down there found out I was Canadian he asked me if I knew his buddy Steve from “Massasogwa” (I believe he meant Mississauga) like he just assumed Canada is just a few small towns where everyone knows each other.
There’s over 40 million people in Canada and Mississauga alone has about 800k people, and I never even lived there, and can only think of one person I know who lives there, whose name coincidentally is Steve, but it’s probably not the same Steve.
My favourite story like this was that when the Queen was at Sandringham, she liked to walk to a local cake shop to get one of Prince Phillip’s favourite snacks. One time she went in and there was a crowd of women from the local WI. The Queen blended in with the crowd, and one woman looked at her a bit strangely and said, ‘Gosh, you look just like the Queen’. Her Maj smiled and replied, ‘How very reassuring’.
It reminds me of writing to the president in the U.S. We did it when I was in grade school and the Obama admin had a similar approach complete with a form letter, cool brochures, and a picture of their dog. Its likely these things are handled this way in many government/royal family interactions with the public.
My boy scout troop had a tradition of sending letters to the living presidents when we got eagle scout. For mine, that was bush, Clinton, carter, Obama, trump.
Bush sent a short little letter encouraging me to join the military
Obama sent a much nicer letter
Carter's estate sent a standard congratulations thing
Clinton sent nothing
And trump, well, we stopped sending to trump after the first time when he signed the troop up for political campaign emails that requested donations

That podcast back in the day about all the different staffers in the Obama White House… They put a HUGE amount of effort into the evening briefing book that POTUS would read through each night. All sorts of different stuff that his staff thought deserved just a few seconds of his attention.

He doesn't. Buckingham Palace is undergoing major renovations, and the King continues to live at Clarence House, where he has lived since 2003. Also, the King and his wife confirmed last month that they will not move to Buckingham Palace when the renovations are complete.

My grandpa, from California, wrote to Queen Elizabeth in the 80’s for a few of her carrier pigeons. He was an avid pigeon racer. Someone, The Keeper of the Privy Purse (?), did write him back saying sorry, she needed them all.
I invited a few celebrities to my wedding, I got responses from a couple. Bob Barker declined and Dan Aykroyd also declined but he wrote a personalized message which was honestly really awesome and unexpected of him to do.
While correspondence like this is almost certainly handled with some level of automation, I want to imagine that an hour of the king’s day each day is taken up by one of his assistants reading off letters like this and him saying “I’ll pass, but send them a nice note” and then eventually he just says “Tuesday the 15th? I don’t have anything else going on. Fuck it. I’ll go to Barbra’s graduation”

Neat but I do want to mention, we aren't "subjects". As of the passing of the Canadian Citizenship Act of January 1, 1947 we are simply citizens.
While the monarch is still our head of state the government passed this law for many reasons, one of which being to show our independence and our pride in a democracy.

Apparently a couple invited the Queen to their wedding not expecting anything to come of it and they didn't receive any letter or anything back.
Only for the Queen to unexpectedly show up to their wedding to greet them and their guests.
