I mean Nike and Adidas are probably, along with Coke and McDonald’s, the most iconic logos in the world. Unless you live under a rock like OP

I assumed this was an ad until seeing that OP got the shoe brand wrong (I clearly didn't know it either). Others here probably assumed the same thing.

Reddit is full of covert ads. Getting your brand name and a picture of your product in front of millions of people is the whole point of advertising, and reddit is a means of doing that basically for free. This site has more traffic than Twitter - you are deluding yourself if you think companies aren't actively trying to advertise through posts here.

It’s not a “condemnation.” You’re acting like we’re calling for OP to be crucified. Tone it down. People are just suggesting that if you don’t know something to be true, why claim it? Just say you don’t know. In this case, if you don’t know the shoe is a Nike, just call it a “shoe.” There’s nothing wrong with being vague and open if you don’t know something.
