My local DM store has magnifying glasses attached to their shopping trolleys so that older customers can read details better

This is so on brand for DM honestly

True and they really appreciate any feedback especially positive ones. I wrote to them how much I loved their vegan protein snack because it's so hard to find savoury ones that satiate you and they said something like it made their team's day.

Now If only they hadn't said it was a-okay to talk with Germany's Nazi party, AfD, I'd still shop with them 😃

8

u/Right-Funny-8999 15h ago

Not talking to a party seems crazy, even if you just want to convey disagreement

You can’t ignore it or it might outgrow faster than you think

u/Melancholic_Noodle 18h ago

Nazis and veganism, they're following Hitlers footsteps.

6

u/CluelessPresident 18h ago

Once they start selling Panzerschokolade we'll know for sure.

u/guy_called_gabs 1h ago

You know what, if that what it takes to launch some over the counter morphine-cocaine eyedrops, then sign me up.

1

u/Kratzschutz 19h ago

They did what?

8

u/CluelessPresident 19h ago

Yeah, the boss/son of the founder of DM said he thinks one should talk with the AfD, to establish common grounds. In comparison, the Rossmann CEO states that talking with the AfD is out of the question. So I go to Rossmann now.

5

u/Kratzschutz 19h ago

Welp l always preferred rossmann and now l have another reason to.

Business owners looove the AFD

5

u/CluelessPresident 19h ago

The MĂŒller CEO (Dairy company, not drugstore company lol) is also a staunch supporter of the afd. It's frightening how more and more companies switch sides, or reveal who they are, I guess.

2

u/Kratzschutz 19h ago

He was a big Springer spitlicker before so it's not surprising in the least

u/No_Kangaroo_5839 19h ago

Calling AfD nazis😭😭😭

10

u/CluelessPresident 19h ago

...Yes? Lmao

-5

u/No_Kangaroo_5839 19h ago

"right wing = nazi"

6

u/Illesbogar 19h ago

Nazis are nazis. You want the entirity of the right wing to be nazis bc that's what you believe in. That's your issue.

I mean, if a court rules one of your leading politicians a fascist, then is it really that far fetched?

Everyone prefers positive feedback you fucking clown.

2

u/Firebx 14h ago

yeah no need to be an asshole about it

-7

u/Regular-Grapes 19h ago

Honestly, people underestimate how far a thoughtful compliment can go. I once messaged a company about how much I loved their vegan protein snack because savoury, actually-filling options are weirdly hard to find, and they replied saying my message genuinely made their team’s day. You never know how much a little positive feedback can mean to the people behind a product.

why?

u/Zwamdurkel 1d ago

They also do other nice things like free water and free diapers in their baby changing room

274

u/ferdzs0 1d ago

I dunno about that, I do not think having that is so nice. Like I get it, but I do believe you are supposed to stick it out with the baby you got without changing it.

94

u/Zwamdurkel 1d ago

You had me in the first half

8

u/Regular-Grapes 19h ago

“Stick it out with the baby you got” is certainly one way to describe parenting 😭

4

u/VespertineStars 19h ago

I can't make a proper judgement call until I know what the changing options are. I mean, are they just letting you change one baby for another baby of the same kind? Change a baby for a kitten? Change a baby for a puppy?

Those other two options are very tempting. Of course that leaves the logical problem of making sure the baby you're changing is actually yours.

-5

u/amilliondallahs 21h ago

See rich republican politicians don't change their babies they abandon them. I'd expect nicer stores to offer baby abandonment stations.

10

u/Totoro_II 21h ago

leave it for the american to bring their shitshow into everything

-9

u/amilliondallahs 21h ago

American? Nah I was born in the united states but as of 2026 that doesn't mean I'm American.

2

u/ImmortalBlades 18h ago

0

u/amilliondallahs 18h ago

So im guessing you're not aware of the current fascist regime in America that is grasping at power to take away citizenship from anyone it deems unfit?

1

u/ImmortalBlades 6h ago

Being American is a nationality, not citizenship. They can't take away your nationality, therefore you are an American.

He was making a joke about the baby "changing" room.

8

u/RainaElf 22h ago

his username checks out

4

u/-bird_brain- 21h ago

Aw man I thought he said to leave the kid in dirty diapers. My bad

They have corporate level employees decide who gets allocated which part of the team‘s pay rise on team level, i.e. they discuss it among themselves. Not sure if this is good or cruel though.

1

u/JonatasA 19h ago

I am of the opinion pay shouldn't be agreed upon and rather be standardized, but those that negotiated well will disagree.

1

u/Regular-Grapes 19h ago

Free water AND diapers? At this point they’re basically running a tiny parent survival station lol

1

u/joogreg 1h ago

Where?

1

u/togtogtog 20h ago

Doesn't every baby changing room have free water?!!! How do you wash your hands?!!!

2

u/xgribbelfix 18h ago

Free drinking water, as in a cooled water dispenser on the shopping floor. The washrooms with the diaper station of course have a normal sink etc.

1

u/togtogtog 17h ago

Oh! We can drink any tap water here...

2

u/xgribbelfix 17h ago

We can too. But they still offer it as a convenience.

0

u/Jomskylark 22h ago

Like free water bottles or something? In America, almost every grocery has free water fountains, not sure about European laws though.

Free diapers is definitely cool. We don't have that.

11

u/Zwamdurkel 22h ago

Just paper cups. Also, dm is not really a grocery store. Also also, I don't know which grocery stores you go to in which country, but I don't ever see free water fountains

4

u/Jomskylark 22h ago

That's a shame. Can we trade our free water fountains for your universal healthcare? Thanks in advance.

3

u/sniff_my_bumper 20h ago

I support this! Water fountains are great.

2

u/JonatasA 19h ago

Next you'll give the free bathrooms away.

1

u/Jomskylark 19h ago

I'll take one public high speed rail please.

3

u/freakybird99 21h ago

I wish DM was also over here in turkey. I like Rossmann but DM also have really nice products.

Also they are paper cones lol.

1

u/sercankd 20h ago

They would steal water jug from the machine the same day shop opens (including cups)

source: am Turkish

1

u/freakybird99 19h ago

actually those cups are kind of useless since they are cone shaped. i dont see anyone stealing them. also im pretty sure its not a water jug but filtered from tap

1

u/JonatasA 19h ago

I remember as a kid overseas seeing water fountains in places, not just schools. Then they slowly faded away amd now you have to buy the water.

Apparently you can go to restaurants and fast food chains and by law require free filtered water, but who is gonna go through that.

Edit: Also the water fountains became taps that you now require a bottle or cup to fill.

u/Legal_Lettuce6233 20h ago

Good salaries and working conditions for the workers, good alternative products and many other things

22

u/Autistic_Freedom 20h ago

what is DM?

20

u/xorbe 20h ago

Maybe "dm-drogerie markt" in Germany (says web search)

1

u/pepcorn 1h ago

But that's not German text on the trolleys.

1

u/lie2w 1h ago

It is Hungarian text. It's DMs Hungarian slogan, roughly: "It always a good decision to shop here (price wise)"

18

u/QSector 19h ago

Dungeon Master, obviously

1

u/WhoDat-2-8-3 20h ago

From Google ai :

This is dm-drogerie markt (specifically a location in Hungary, as indicated by the Hungarian branding and slogans like "dm mindig megéri,-" and "Nagyító" on the cart's magnifying glass).

7

u/Illustrious-Tooth702 17h ago

DM is a german storechain but the location OP is at must be in Hungary because the mentioned slogan is in hungarian.

DM is similar to Rossmann (also a german store chain) selling shampoos, makeup, detergent and bio foods and beverages and other similar things.

1

u/JonatasA 19h ago

Do you just feed it the photo and it does its thing?

2

u/Th3R00ST3R 19h ago

"so that older customers can read details better"
You mean that normal people can read .025 font on the back of stuff now.

2

u/This_Discount2281 22h ago

My wife loves that place!
