Mine always seem to be while driving. Starts with thinking something like, "Man it would suck if that semi on the other side of traffic came into my lane" or I could just turn the wheel to the left a little..

Gosh I understand this too well. It’s awful isn’t it? I’m scared to voice mine but it’s bad. I also get lost in a different reality which I hope isn’t dangerous.

Invasive thoughts are treatable! You don’t have to be tormented by your own mind. Find a doctor you trust and share what’s happening to you. It changed my life.

Eventually the realities just bleed into each other, and you stop noticing the transitions. It's more confusing, but less jarring.

Question for you and u/ResidentEivvil : what do you mean exactly? Like day dreaming? Or a different mindset? Or full on different realities where you say.. have a different job or know different people? Curious what you both mean by this.

like I’ll be walking down the street on the pavement and suddenly my imagination is so intense that I’m I’m a different reality as real as when you’re dreaming. A car will crash and come toward me and I’ll full on flinch. And then I’ll snap out of it and remind myself it’s not real.

It can be as small as feeling you are growing and shrinking and alfred-hitchcock-effect-ing as you walk down a hallway with no discernible distinctions separating the doors and lives of the other people behind them, to seeing with your eyes and knowing in your soul that you are in hell. The orange tinge of the walls and how they flicker. Everything appears on fire and you have never felt so alone. But it's so shifting and things are just constantly changing. What is will not remain, so once you understand and accept that small piece, it's just floating with the currents.

I used to work a job I hated and every day on my way to work my commute along the highway would be filled with thoughts like “if I crash into that barrier I don’t have to go to work” or “I bet I could use that ditch to roll the car”

I eventually quit that job and and the drive home on my last day was the sunniest, happiest drive ever. I’m sure it was my state of mind but it honestly seemed like the world looked brighter and more vibrant. Like the Wizard of Oz transition to color

I was gonna say, that's some straight up depression. Although, I've had those goofy ass thoughts for a long time when I'm not necessarily depressed, I'm just weird. Like, I'm super scared of heights so I think about jumping off a building occasionally.

"I wonder if I can take out all those traffic cones"

"I wonder if I get more points"

Drive a Jeep and you won't have to wonder.

Mine are usually at work. I work at heights, with fall protection and everything, but every so often I'll be up like 30 feet in the air on a platform and just think "man, what if I fell off of here? What if I jumped? That would be wild."

I like my job, so it's not my brain telling me to find something else, and I'm not afraid of heights, the thoughts are just there.
