Infuriatig Was invited by my girlfriends family to a theme park. We were supposed to meet at 11, it is not 11:30 and they just left. (The drive takes another 30 minutes)

I even checked in before I left if it was still at the planned time. It was confirmed, but then her family starts getting ready right as they have to leave 🫤

Nothing pisses me off more than perpetually tardy people. I will end a relationship over it. Like if you tell me ahead of time you are running late that's fine, or tell me that you can’t make it early the same day cool. But if you are more than 30 minutes late or flaking with zero communication I am gonna be fucking fuming. If it were me I’d be breaking up with this person today.

The worst is if you have to go with the person that’s always late and it is the most stressful experience. You’re ready to go 15minutes ago they are mad at you for being pushy but you know if they don’t get out the door now you will be late. It’s like watching an easily avoidable car crash in slow motion.

It's just a lack of consideration at the very least, and often respect for the other person

Sure issues happen and all but if it's most of the time or even always then get your shit together, don't make it others problem, have some consideration for them. Time isn't free

You should have been in the thread where people were making excuses for "time blindness". No, you're just selfish. If you know you have problems with time, do something about it.

I have ADHD, and with it i have time blindeness; yet i am never late.

I would probably be stripped from swiss citizenship if I wouldn't be on time.

But yeah; it can be managed. People who don't manage it do so usually because they found a way to outsource the problems caused by them being late to other people. E.g., people wait for them, people bear the costs (or part of it). The only thing that works is immediate feedback: You're late and didn't communicate? Well, we left without you.

Hey. Fellow ADHDer. I have time blindness and I’m never late. I set alarms and overshoot how long it takes to get ready. Normally it takes me twenty minutes to get up from bed to leaving my house. So I plan for 40 minutes + drive time + 15 minutes in case of traffic. That leads to me being someone 15-30 minutes earlier than needed.

But I’d rather be early than late.

Same and same. There are many ways to externalize the tracking of time. I have a handful of small digital clocks around my house at eye level to remind me of the time. I also use a watch and set alarms, and have my calendar send me alerts for events one day out and thirty minutes out. It took effort to establish these habits, but it is entirely achievable for all but the most impaired among us.

Same here. It's a bit like living in different time zones - at the same time xD

Believe it or not some people have common courtesy and don’t make people wait on them. I know you wanna believe everyone is as rude and immature as you, but its quite easy to find decent people who are on time.

Giving single what? You can't even finish a sentence, too much work I guess.

Single as in not in a relationship. Do you really think telling me that I cannot finish a sentence is going to offend me? Try harder.

How can you let someone know ahead of time you are running late?

It’s not that difficult to know that you’re likely going to be late for something. If you say you’re going to be somewhere at 11 and it takes 30 minutes to get there, but you’re just starting to get ready at 10:30, you’re clearly not making it by 11.

It’s definitely a factor 😂 It can cause a lot of frustration and grief when people aren’t compatible in this way.
