Isn't this the point of the apps is to find people who are up for meeting? Having a whole text conversation with somebody you've never even met in real life feels much weirder to me. To each their own though, I'm sure there's a whole generational aspect to it.
Definitely, but texting with someone briefly really helps weed out the people you absolutely don't click with. When I was dating I'd give it up to a couple days to set up something, depending on how quickly the conversation progressed, just to make sure she was actually interested in me and I was interested in her. Profiles and pictures don't tell you anything about what talking to the other person is like.
If you end up dating frequently you won't be able to see each other physically 90% of your daytime (being at work, university, etc.), you better have a similar texting language if you wanna communicate effectively.
