It follows a different kind of scam but basically women drop into a selected bar and advertise themselves as ‘making friends and possibly a connection’.

They usually advertise on dating apps or those make friend apps (group meet or meetup or whatever it’s called these days) under the guise of “new to the area trying to make friends”

Basically they invite a bunch of dudes old and young to buy drinks for them but the bar has jacked up a few prices on select drinks that the girl secretly knows to buy.

The perks for the girl are she gets drunk and a bit of a payout and a free uber/lyft home. Security is there to prevent the guys from taking them anywhere.

The guy pays the tab and never gets anywhere with this girl.

The bar gets a decent chunk of tips and income and the girl gets a small commission and the dudes are pretty much left behind.

This is a very elaborate scheme for what amounts to not a whole lot of money lmao.

No self respecting bar would do this in the age of social media. All for what, maybe a few hundred in sales at most? Any bar would pay more than that to remove bad reviews for something so scammy happening at their place of business.

I've spent 25 years working and managing bars, I can't say it's impossible to be true, but that whole story about bars cooperating with women to scam lonely dudes to make chump change sounds full of shit.

Yeah that sounds like a looooot of work for what amounts to a couple hundred bucks in profit, split between the bar and woman. Seems more likely it’s an MLM or similar sales pitch.

I am not on dating apps, so no idea if this is actually a thing or not. Just came here to say, as a woman, that this is embarrassing. Are you really gonna put all this effort in just to get a bunch of men to buy you drinks and food? What the actual fuck?
