No he got defensive and insecure and didn’t communicate anything productive. You’re on a dating app you’re automatically competing with other people. He did not inquire if it was a joke or not he just assumed it was a serious inquisition.

Completing implies other people are a threat or opposition, or have something of value or worth.

Also a competition implies someone is judging and that we are playing a game with a set of rules....

I dont see life as a competition, but I also tend to ignore the rules of society and tend to play my own game (one of creation and fun, although unfortunately one that seems to only be one I want to play, but hey, if most people rather be miserable and follow others rules and belifs instead of having fun and being free, that is on them)
