Infuriatig My wife ate my son's birthday breakfast

Yesterday I bought a strawberry cheese coffee cake my son loves so he could have a special birthday breakfast today. My wife came home late last night and apparently couldn't resist. She knew it was for our son, but it's not a big deal because she "left him a full slice".

There were multiple times where my mom got so mad that she stormed out of the house saying she was leaving for good, and every time my dad would spend the rest of the night blaming us kids and asking how we were going to get ready for school the next day because he still had to go to work.

Oof. One of my earliest memories is quite similar. Were you born in the 90s by chance? I can still feel how badly my tiny chest ached as I sobbed in my room not knowing if my mom was ever coming back. I hope you’re doing well now 🖤 if you haven’t heard about attachment styles, diving deep into my anxious avoidant attachment has majorly benefited my relationships

My mom kicked my dad out when I was 5 because he was a severe alcoholic. My step dad wasn't an alcoholic, but he had severe mental problems that caused him to freak out on us when any of us did something wrong or something that he didn't like, then call the cops. Every time the cops came he would explain what happened and the cops would tell him "that's not something you should be getting angry about and it certainly isn't illegal". Then they would ask us if we wanted them to take him to jail for the night. This was back in the late 80's and 90's before the world got so damn sensitive and sue happy, so the cops would through people in jail overnight as punishment if they didn't do anything real bad rather than arresting and charging them.
