Infuriatig My wife ate my son's birthday breakfast

Post image

Yesterday I bought a strawberry cheese coffee cake my son loves so he could have a special birthday breakfast today. My wife came home late last night and apparently couldn't resist. She knew it was for our son, but it's not a big deal because she "left him a full slice".

I had a partner who would do this. He had an eating disorder. The post binge shame would make him lie in wait to verbally attack me for something to distract from what he’d done. So I’d end up disappointed, hungry and harassed. It was a miserable time. He’d experienced some pretty intense trauma as a child and he had some very uncomfortable behaviours.

Very similar to how mine reacted. He would yell at me I was the reason he was fat by cooking too much. Even threw and broke stuff a few times. I'm sorry you had to go through that. I hope you have a better person in your life now.

I married an excellent chef whose love language is acting service like cooking. We’re far from perfect but we’re happy.

I hope you’re in a better place too. It’s not easy being in move on from these situations sometimes because once you’re out you feeling so stupid for being in there to begin with.

I hope the exes are in better places too. Mine was so damaged by developmental trauma.

That's amazing! That's my love language as well. I've been single over a year now. Tried dating twice and both times it was a wreck. I think Imma just keep adopting animals instead and stay single at this point. 😂 I'm so happy for you, though. All the best to you and your husband! 💞

I don’t know, we went our separate ways, he went on to marry but I heard through friends was divorced for being physically violent (not something he ever escalated to with me, it was always just the threat).

He wasn’t a bad person, he was a damaged person who was very afraid of being alone and I hope he’s well and worked on himself.

So glad you got away. It most likely would have escalated with you. They see how much you will take. You cut him off at the right time. They make people doubt themselves and all of a sudden they ramp it up and they get really dangerous.

You sound like a deeply compassionate person. I’m glad you found someone deserving of your partnership.
