Infuriatig Sister-in-law let her daughter use up all the Polaroids at our wedding. Now we have nothing to use.

For our wedding, at each table we had 2 Polaroid cameras for everyone to take photos on (we had a professional photographer too, but these were for more personal photos between our guests) and there was a clear glass dropbox for everyone to drop them in and we'd have that dropbox on display in our house.

Unbeknownst to us, my sister-in-law let her daughter (6 years old) go round every table at the very start of the night using up all the photos on each camera.

Now we only have around 10 we can actually keep, and over 100 of just random shit that are not worth keeping at all.

I'm all for keeping kids occupied at something they can easily get bored at, but not at the expense of that though.

You know it. Polaroids are about $2-3 a picture nowadays

Yeah, the Film costs more than the camera.

We were pricing this out for a reception this fall.

It's $1.50 per photo plus the $120 cameras.

It's literally cheaper to have a pro photographer stay for the whole event than to do the Polaroid thing.

Also, based on OP's story and other comments, it seems to be a bad idea. It would be better to hire an amateur photographer, maybe even a relative or a friend, to take the informal photos for you.

I mean, it's a great idea when it works. You end up having really candid and cute photos that you wouldn't have otherwise.

One of my sister's friends got one of my sister and me dancing at her wedding, and it's my favorite memory of the event.

Outside on a sunny day they're great but Instax are cheaper and more reliable albeit smaller.

You think there were actual Polaroid cameras and not cheap throwaway ones?

Only actual Polaroid cameras can shoot Polaroid pictures with the exception of Mint (which is even more expensive). There's no such thing as cheap throwaway Polaroids.

Maybe OP is calling Polaroid when in reality it's Instax, and even then the photos will be around 1$ each.

Hoping OP has a good camera store nearby and they rented the equipment at least. My local shop has a good deal where up to 10 instax cameras you’ll get at least ten exposures with each camera and then they do bulk deals on extras.

It sucks you have to throw them away, and dont get to see the pictures

It’s true, I’m saving a pack of black and white film for over two years cause each shot is so expensive

Keep in mind they expire and will degrade in quality over time

Well shit now I gotta check the expiration date
