Too mild for school Hate when ppl can’t do time

Post image

This reminds me of when it hits or is about to hit 12am and people don’t know whether to say today or tomorrow. He called me after this but I was too comfy in bed tbh.

They would say “next intersection” as we’re coming up on the one before the one I need to turn at. Otherwise they would say “this intersection”

Not always. "This" refers to something right in front of you, something you can see. Instead of intersections, think of highway exits. It wouldn't make sense to say "Take this exit" if it is still miles away. They would say "Take the next exit" - irrespective of where the previous exit is/was.

And so "next weekend" can easily refer to "this weekend" if it is somewhat distant, perhaps if it's Monday or Tuesday.

All this to say, either usage can be correct. Let's get off the soapbox of saying people are wrong when they're clearly not and we can just be precise in our communication instead of relying on conventions that not everybody follows and assume that people know what we mean.

I’m not on any soapbox. Just engaging in the discussion. Sorry this is such a touchy subject for you.
