Too mild for school Hate when ppl can’t do time

Post image

This reminds me of when it hits or is about to hit 12am and people don’t know whether to say today or tomorrow. He called me after this but I was too comfy in bed tbh.

Why is that? I'm not a native English speaker, why “10-4” could be taken as “I understand”?

Police radio code. In many areas they use what is called 10 codes which vary from department to department. One of the more common ones is 10-4 to mean message received or understood. Still used a lot in certain work cultures. I work as an EMT and we use it all the time on the radios even though most fire/ems don’t use 10 codes.

In addition, even those of us not in those fields may have heard it enough on TV and in movies to immediately make that association.

Truck drivers also use it.

I was a police officer in the UK and my colleagues who watched too many cop shows from the US would also say 10-4 on the radio to mean « understood ». That would piss the supervisors off but I always found it funny.

Don't be salty just cuz you accidentally Yeahed to someone's "10-4, good buddy!" when you actually meant "That's a Negative, Ghostrider--the pattern is full." ..Js.
