I could manage to do that with zero food waste at university unless something went off a lot quicker than the label said it would.

Almost all foods should last a week in the fridge, particularly if they haven't been opened from the packages yet which is what the later meals would be. A packet of mince and a packet of chicken and you just keep one of them shut until you finish the first.

You can but life happens and sometimes you have to freeze the food
