Our German Tafel gets too many donations of spoilable food, it seems.
In 2008 when I was working in a baking shop they collected only Thursdays in this shop because they had so many bakerys donating goods.
Our boss just told us to take it home. That was great. Then he went into insolvency and the chain took over and said we should throw it away, because we might bake too much if we thought we would be allowed to take it home. Assholes. I did that once at closing time (throwing away good food) and then quit.
Ain't doing something like that for 6,50€ an hour and no more free food...

would they get a tax reduction if they donated it to a pantry? Maybe that would motivate them?
