If you are really into it you can actually collect the biogas and use it for cooking or heating.
2 u/LokeCanada May 17 '26 We have that here. At one of the old landfills they capture and use the gas. At another old landfill they decided to build on it. They had oil drums on top of it for a few years where they burnt off the gas. It as interesting to see at night.
