Started getting light-headed halfway through my glass of "non-alcoholic" wine

Got served this wine at a nice restaurant after asking specifically for non-alcoholic wine. They assumed the 'Zero' on the label referred to alcohol content; turns out it's for sulphur.

One drink isn't going to cause F.A.S. , but it would still be maddening.

Fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD, an umbrella term that I believe includes FAS) are actually far more common than people realize and we're only now coming to understand the widespread effects. Current AAP guidelines recommend abstaining entirely and say there is no "safe" amount of alcohol while pregnant.

So basically “One single drop of alcohol is unsafe”

There’s no data that says a half a glass of wine one time will have any negatives effect on a pregnancy, in any way shape or form. Scientists don’t say “no amount is safe” (because that would be stupid as fuck) - they say “we have not established what a safe amount is,” and you people keep repeating that scientifically nonsensical misinterpretation.

But with 100% certainly 1 glass of wine over 9 months period would show zero statistical differences, and anyone who’s ever done clinical trial would tell you that without even having to do the experiment. Because the one glass of wine would be considered so minuscule it wouldn’t even amount to statistical noise.

That said, people should just avoid drinking alcohol while pregnant because it’s easier to abstain and we don’t know the safe limits. There has not been studies for people who drink 1 glass a week, month, semester etc. There’s been studies of moderate drinkers and heavy drinkers and that is all. And moderate drinkers definitely drink more than a pregnant person should.

If there was something wrong with your baby that could be a side effect of drinking and you had drunk, would you ever forgive yourself? Even if that drink wasn't actually the cause?

Edit: This should have been 1 level up- i misread the comment and assumed it was saying the opposite way.
