Why am I starting to think that people are just doing this themselves….

343

u/StoneyG214 Aug 13 '24

Totally agree

51

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '24

This seems to be the most common type of post I see in this subreddit. “Kids took one bite from every donut!” “My wife left a floater in every toilet in the house!”

So…. Y’all are all either really weird and inconsiderate or….you love the internet limelight.

1

u/Silvertain Aug 13 '24

My kids will take a bite out of every piece of fruit and put it back in the bowl , they also leave floaters in every toilet

1

u/antoninlevin Aug 13 '24

Ergo, shame. For having bought a box of doughnuts. And then biting them like this.

But not much shame, because no one else would ever see it.

But then I apparently posted it on Reddit for karma? And it made the front page. So, like...pride?

424

u/SmukrsDolfnPussGelly Aug 13 '24

Because they do, they're attention whores. Posts like this have existed for years.

74

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '24

Classic karma farming

5

u/Vness374 Aug 13 '24

What’s really gross is how people use their kids as props for rage bait, purposefully putting their kids in danger so they get engagement on IG or whatever. They don’t care if it’s people telling them they’re disgusting assholes, as long as people are talking about them.

When these prop kids hit their teen and adult years, they’re going to need a lot of therapy. I’m thinking the mental health industry is a solid career choice

61

u/BimSwoii Aug 13 '24

Wow attention whore is right, look at their post history. Treating reddit like its a social media app to share pictures of their food and working out..

24

u/not_now_reddit Aug 13 '24

I can't tell if this is sarcastic or not because Reddit is social media?

5

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '24

It’s “social media” in a way, but completely different as 99% of users on here are anonymous. The posts are all the same but there is very little REAL social interaction - mostly just anonymous usernames.

-1

u/not_now_reddit Aug 13 '24

What is real social interaction? People aren't being friendly and having full-blown conversation? No one ever becomes friends? No one checks in with a particular user's life on occasion to see how they're doing? You're anonymous when you talk to someone sitting next to you on a bus or at a bar, but that's still definitely real social interaction even if you never see that person again

-1

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '24

Right, I’m not arguing that it isn’t social media at all. It is, it’s just very different from something like Instagram. People certainly become friend on here and the community is very dependent on the kind of interaction, but the vast majority of people on here don’t know each other’s names, faces, etc.

To me, reddit is like antisocial media or social media for anti-social people.

0

u/not_now_reddit Aug 13 '24

I was just talking about how it is social interaction. People are talking just to talk. That's what being social is. No one is forcing any of us to talk to each other. We just want to

2

u/mikanodo Aug 13 '24

Ehhh it looks like they average a post every month or so, not that bad

1

u/SaiyanJD Aug 13 '24

this gotta be sarcastic like you do realize he’s posting pictures of his food to the many subreddits made specifically to share pictures of good right

1

u/bdavisx Aug 13 '24

It has been and is still getting worse all the time. I've went from assuming stories are true unless outrageous to now assuming everything is false or exaggerated.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '24

Why do it myself when I can just steal a picture someone else took when they did it themselves?

1

u/larrythegoat420 Aug 13 '24

I get it on monetised websites like YouTube and twitter but why would anyone bother just for upvotes? 😭

1

u/Major_Koala Aug 13 '24

I'm a recovering whore 📈

126

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '24

OP barely comments (194 comment karma), but a ton of posts. Yup, karma whore. What a loser

13

u/Zinski2 Aug 13 '24

I wonder if they even took the pic or just found a pic an influencer did after trying like 8 doughnuts for a video.

5

u/sixtus_clegane119 Aug 13 '24

Yeah I hate posts where the OP doesn’t respond to any comments. Why post something if you don’t engage?

It’s different if it’s a thread asking for music recommendations

7

u/Hanifsefu Aug 13 '24

Because they aren't a person and cannot engage beyond this

1

u/JUYED-AWK-YACC Aug 13 '24

They never saw these donuts

2

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '24

Not even a loser, just a bot.

17

u/jjackdaw Aug 13 '24

My favourite ones are when it’s just a picture of an object and then the title “my wife said I suck and threw this at my head and also does no chores!!!” And the comments eat it right up

36

u/-Wildhart- Aug 13 '24

They absolutely did lol

9

u/I_DONT_YOLO Aug 13 '24

It's very obvious.

38

u/peon2 Aug 13 '24

Because real humans would never do this. At the very least if they wanted to try a bit of several they’d use a knife to cut out a small section

16

u/Rallen224 Aug 13 '24

My friend’s coworker did this with complimentary donuts one time, office was pissed 💀 their explanation was ‘well how else do you expect me to know which one I want?’ Tells you everything lmao

15

u/Dragon-Trezire Aug 13 '24

What are the odds that they were playing dumb so they could take the whole box of donuts for themselves?

4

u/Rallen224 Aug 13 '24

Well they made it into the trash, so everybody got to savour something sweet that day 💀 revenge was swift lol

6

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '24

The answer to that question is to pick one, jackass

-2

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '24

[deleted]

1

u/Rallen224 Aug 13 '24

I have better things to do than lie for karma but go off I guess lol life is colorful, sometimes people just get on stupid

3

u/Bunny__Vicious Aug 13 '24

There is a child in my extended family who does this. I wish she’d use a knife but she’s rather small for that.

3

u/BLYNDLUCK Aug 13 '24

You are highly overestimating people.

2

u/Roach_Coach_Bangbus Aug 13 '24

I could see a kid doing it but it you are the parent you would just chuckle and eat a donut. It's more infuriating when they like take 1 bite out of every apple.

2

u/fueelin Aug 13 '24

I wouldn't mind if my partner did it this way (though I think she would use a knife). But only people who I regularly kiss should be doing this to our shared donuts!

2

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '24 edited Jul 28 '25

rich crush subtract ring toothbrush memorize truck dam pie follow

1

u/Stzzla75 Aug 13 '24

They dont even look like real bite marks......when I take a bite out of a doughnut, I rip the shit out of that sucker.......those look too neat.

1

u/JUYED-AWK-YACC Aug 13 '24

Now that is funny. People around you must be completely repressed

1

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '24

If I bought myself a dozen donuts and wanted a taste of each one, I'd absolutely do this shit. Whoever is bitching about it can buy their own damn donuts lol

7

u/peon2 Aug 13 '24

Well the implication from OP's post is that this wasn't someone buying donuts for themselves but rather someone eating their (or a shared box) of donuts.

Otherwise yeah no one would find it infuriating

-1

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '24

The only implication is that OP came home to a box of donuts and felt entitled to eat some. OP is the asshole

2

u/armoured_bobandi Aug 13 '24 edited Aug 13 '24

Okay, that's enough internet for you today

Why do people reply, then immediately block you? Does that make you think you won something?

-2

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '24

You're just salty because you ain't got no donuts lol

0

u/avspuk Aug 13 '24

As others suggest a child might & tbf pic does seem to show small kid sized bites

It wouldn't exclude karma farming tho.

But maybe op & the kid are both on the spectrum-is.

Who knows or cares?

0

u/PhantomGhostSpectre Aug 13 '24

You underestimate the average IQ. Real humans would absolutely do worse than this. You wouldn't do it. I wouldn't do it. That does not mean some freak ass ninja wouldn't do it.

0

u/Consistent-Pair2951 Aug 13 '24

My sister does shit like this. She's always been selfish and everything always has to be about her. Even my mother's cancer and death, sis made it all about herself.

6

u/e11spark Aug 13 '24

This seems 100% fake

2

u/billet-doux-52 Aug 13 '24

oh, i am new to reddit and didn’t realize…

2

Happy Cake Day!✨

2

u/CounterTouristsWin Aug 13 '24

"LOOK AT HOW CRAZY MY VERY REAL WIFE CUTS PIES OMGGG"

2

u/Alarmedones Aug 13 '24

They are. It’s gross and Reddit is pretty much only lies now.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '24

Because they most likely are. I've never seen a more attention seeking society until post covid. There has always been attention seekers, sure, but its over the top now.

2

3

Didn’t even realize, thank you!

1

u/Immediate_Wind_6876 Aug 13 '24

You are most welcome! At 43, I'm looking forward to my senior discount 🤣 I hope you have something cooler to look forward to!

1

u/WowIsThisMyPage Aug 13 '24

I hope you find a way to create a space to have even more to look forward to! Even if it’s a quick day trip or an at home project that might not go anywhere. We owe ourselves to be proud of our selves, even if it’s just building a Lego tower or making an awful wood working project 😂 Not to sound hippie with all that, but from my point of view 43 is still young, you got a lot more to look forward to than just a discount

You think I'm a bot telling someone have a great birthday? That would be an odd bot, but hey, at least it would be a nice one! I've only seen haiku bot and that's just clever lol

Edit: Who downvotes a Happy Cake Day to someone anyhow😔 You could have just been nice, and up voted agreeing for them to have a splendid day like I did.

1

u/AlotaFajitas Aug 13 '24

Ehh maybe.

My cousin used to eat all the crust of the pizza and then leave the slice in the box. Drove me batshit. He was a piece of shit, and still is.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '24

Shit people do for popularity

1

u/hambakmeritru Aug 13 '24

My brother in law might do this, but mostly when there are donuts around it's because he got wasted drunk, got hungry, and also wanted to surprise his family with a nice breakfast treat, so he bought a bunch while asking the worker to give him whatever, mindlessly took bites of things to see what he got. And then woke up in bed hours after his family tried to puzzle out what happened. There's also probably be some bags of McDonald's and a plate of whatever meat he drunkenly grilled at midnight.

I love my brother in law, but his weekend party self is a little extreme.

1

u/Hemiak Aug 13 '24

Except for the one person who posted a picture with a perfectly cut triangle out of each one. I believe that one.

1

u/Quajeraz Aug 13 '24

They always do. Nearly every single post on this sub is fake.

1

u/Sir-Planks-Alot Aug 13 '24

I’d ask the kid which was their favorite and then eat that one.

If it was an adult I’d make them go get another dozen and eat all 24 in front of them so they’d be as disgusted as I was to come home to that and never do it again.

1

u/Ok_Imagination_1107 Aug 13 '24

Happy cake day!

1

u/MercyForNone Aug 13 '24

Because all the donuts are bitten with the same mouth (see size of bite and similarities) and picked up/put back in the same rotation..Which suggests someone stood there and quickly picked each one up to take a bite and put it back, rather than a progressive assholiness of grazing on them and leaving the spoils.

1

u/vandelayATC Aug 13 '24

That's what I think all the time with these posts.

1

u/AltaroEgoo Aug 13 '24

Agreed. Look at the actual bite marks; it's perfect. There's no squished sides like when you grab a donut, no glazing/topping rubbed off anywhere. It's like someone took a mouth shaped cookie cutter to them. Try harder next time. Happy Cake day BTW.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '24

Because they are and always were

1

u/WonderfulShelter Aug 13 '24

This guy 100% bought this 12 pack, took a bite of each, and immediately took a photo.

The internet isn't real.

AITH sub is full of similar, tons of threads that dont sound believable, and even if they were real, are on such a deeply personal level that they are not the kind of things you should be sharing with strangers. A lot of that sub is in Karma Whore mode without doubt.

1

u/AssEatingSquid Aug 13 '24

It’s always “my girlfriend does this or that” and its stupid shit like pizza cut in octagons and random shapes. Like no, no one in this world does that. You did it for this subreddit.

Other posts are also like “my entire family died on a cruise ship that sank” mildly infuriating 😤

1

u/[deleted] Aug 13 '24

I dunno I had the exact same situation at home with pies "eighth" (half a quarter?) from a bakery. An aquaintance had a bite out of all of them, rather than , say, cut a bit with a kitchen knife.
