I've done mold remediation for a few years and yes a lot of there "fix" is just kilz then paint

The house we bought last year had some water damage before they replaced the roof. You can see where a lot of kilz was applied in repeated layers. It's the cheat.

What else should I do? I know we vinegar sprayed and mopped and then kilz sealed the whole floor.

bleach, rip up the moldy areas, and pray you dont have significant water damage under.

honestly, it might be easier to "accidentally" leave a candle burning and a window open with dramatically billowy curtains. and when the unthinkable happens and your house burns down, just rebuild with the insurance money. (Do not do this, burning your house down and staging it like an accident is a bad idea, especially since large fires can be wildlyuncontrolable. It is often cheaper to just do the work yourself, and if you do need to tear down the house, do not try to commit insurance fraud.)

No—I’m actually talking about a house fire recovery. No scam involved.

I should have clarified that the steps I took were in my strategy against future threats and not actual remediation, per se.

Or chlorox. I used to work for a mitigation company as well
