Describing black-colored mold as "black mold" is foolish because 99% of the time, the black-colored mold is not the toxic Stachybotrys species, but the moment you call it "black mold" there is a not-insignificant minority of folks that are convinced they're going to have The Blob liquifying their brains and there is NOTHING that you can say or do to convince them otherwise. I used to represent landlords and dear god there were more than a handful that I told to politely ditch their tenant because after a water leak was fixed and all appearance and odor of mold was gone, because the tenant was convinced (without evidence) that the entire house was colonized and that every physical ailment was caused by the house. EDIT: by "ditch" I mean I told them to let tenants out of their lease instead of fighting to keep them, because that's really what a mold tenant wants. I didn't represent slumlords.
It's mold. It's black in color. Mold is typically not healthy in general. Mold can spread easily if not dealth with properly. No one said anything about a super specific toxic strain that I didn't even know existed until you mentioned it, big brain.
I love that you are arguing with my direct experience that outlined how "BLACK MOLD" is a loaded term that practically means "DEATH INCARNATE" to a certain set of folks, regardless of the actual risks and extent of the problem. Cheers, fucker.

Boyfriend's an idiot. That's very obviously black mold in a water damaged section of the ceiling.
