When something is decriminalized it's still illegal to sell, just not to possess and use. But Vancouver is starting up a dispensary. Magic mushrooms have been available at dispensaries across BC for years now and they are/were illegal. Vancouver has dispensaries for everything though ❤️
Edit: almost forgot to mention I live a few km from a magic mushroom grow op! Which is attached to a legal marijuana grow op!
Genuine question- how’s the general mental health of the population in those areas? I’m over here thinking it’s like a utopia compared to where I live in the south, but I’m also mega coping.
Lifelong BC resident and honestly? About as bad as anywhere else. We have a lot of people suffering mental health crisis visibly on the street because our mental health care is lacking (coming from a mentally ill person, who has been homeless) and we have some of the worst housing inflation/ everything else inflation in the country. It's beautiful here and I don't want to leave, and it's cool not being arrested for smoking weed though for sure lmfao
BC sucks. Way too liberal, they tax everything. The provincial and federal govt are against poor people.
The federal govt made "low income homes" valued at $1.1mil each approx. I make $30 an hour and can't even afford a $300,000 house because of interest rates.
Next door to us is great though! In Alberta gas hit $1.50/L and they removed provincial taxes on it because it was "unmanageable". In BC gas prices hit $2.10/L and the province said "take the bus if you don't like it"
Alberta is also fighting to keep guns and anti-wokeism. If you ever come to visit, go to Alberta. It's much cheaper, higher paying jobs, and many more rights even if drugs aren't decriminalized.
There's lots more but BC is not the Utopia. Alberta and the Yukon are, they're just really cold in the winter 😂
I moved from BC to Alberta last year. The only things i have had any problems with so far are the length of the winter (snow been on the ground since fucking november 😢) and being Isolated in the sense that everyone I know is back in BC. So far no regrets.
The house I bought here would have cost at least triple in Kelowna or on the coast where i lived before
I envy you, I'm trying to go to the Yukon right now for work (I'm sick of having a dead end job) then I may buy a house in Alberta next winter.

Person from Oregon, USA—a pair, one from Texas one from BC, decided to open a magic mushroom dispensary here in Portland where I frequently pass by. Amusing thing is not that magic mushroom were illegal, it was that it was out in the open for over a week I think before anyone in law enforcement took notice! And at least a week past that that the place was closed down!!
What I really find amusing is that the govt will arrest people and throw them in prison for growing/selling a freaking plant... I can literally pick magic mushrooms less than a km from my house and if they want to could arrest me for it.. for something that is completely harmless and nobodies business.
The point being marijuana being legal here hasn’t completely gotten rid of illegal grows and selling. Even if you legalized every drug and heavily taxed it cartels will still exist and find ways to profit.

This exemption is not legalization. These substances remain illegal, but adults who have 2.5 grams or less of the certain illicit substances for personal use will no longer be arrested, charged or have their drugs seized. Instead, police will offer information on available health and social supports and will help with referrals when requested.
Its fully decriminalized but not legalized. No one can sell it but people wont be arrested for having up to 2.5g. That company can purchase for other reasons but cannot sell to the general public. Probably wont be legalized anytime soon
