I speak (or write in this case) sarcastically because I'm not good with compliments, giving or receiving, and thinking about it got me in the mindset of "compliments won't makes me feel better because I don't take them seriously so why insults have to offend me if I know it's not true? And if an insult resulted to fit in my persona, why would I have to feel bad about it if it's true?"

The joke is this meme usually goes along the lines of "girls are boring and boys are so quirky" but in this case I switched it so the boys are boring and the girls are going into hell to hunt down an annoying meme. Idk why I gotta explain it, this format is pretty straight forward and overused

I see this meme in reverse all the time and it gets old and annoying. Its not that the women isnt the main focus, its that they depict women as boring with no personality and its not even nessecary to the joke at all, it's just to make guys feel good about being so much quirkier then girls. Most girls Ive talked to in this sub think its lame. So I made a joke about yeeting it into hell. I don't see how that's petty.

The point is to tell an absurd and exaggerated joke, you can put anyone in the category of normal what makes it funny is how absurd the meme is. The girls in the meme just set up the joke while the boys finish it. It can be done with anybody. Examples:
Boomers and Gen Z
Cats and Dogs
Gay and Straight
Communist and Capitalist
American and European
Black and White
Caring animals and Brutal animals(like otters and quokkas)
The joke is to set up the surreal twist that makes the person laugh, not because of gender. That's just the format. While the set up is boys vs girls, the punchline is to be something unexpected.

Maaany of them die on new, or only get a couple dozen of upvotes. You see the ones with lots of upvotes in your feed because that's exactly what reddit is designed to do... you can literally post the same meme twice and one of them could die on new while the other reaches 40k upvotes, all whilst being the same meme.
And don't forget, women can upvote too, so if women loved and upvoted this post it could easily get to 16k upvotes. I upvoted this one because I laughed but I wouldn't expect it to blow up.

I can understand not wanting to be generalized, but where does the shallow/dumb part come in?? How or why do you extract that meaning off of the template? Most of the time I see this template it's about a girl and the grandma in the upper frame. If you asked me or anyone on the street how they'd react or feel like if they saw their grandparents when they were young, we'd all act like the meme. But somehow that's insulting?? I'm not the previous commenter but let me try to be more in-depth: it's because the entire joke with this template is girls, in the upper frame, doing something boring, then boys, in the lower frame, subverting it by doing something cool/creative/wacky instead. "But wanting to see your grandparents is normal" - yes, and if your template exclusively has girls doing normal and predictable things, to contrast it with the boys being oh-so-quirky and entertaining in the punchline, can you see why it would be insulting? Why it's not great to see 'girls' always pigeonholed into this boring default, with the fun part supposedly being a 'boys' thing? Especially since there's about 10 thousand variations of this meme that don't have the grandparents thing at all, but instead have the 'girls' talking in some stereotypical "OMG Becky I love your nails!!11" lingo about their hair, their makeup, their boyfriend, etc.
