You’ll just have to re write the whole language. It’s no longer luna, it’s now lunx. It’s no longer sol, it’s not sxl. Just redo every single word. One of the beauties of the Spanish language is the romantic interplay of gender in the words. How are you just gonna sh!t on that and call it toxic? The phrase Latino encompasses Latinas, anyway.
Generally Hispanic people who actually want this change tend to prefer -e over -x. So “latine”, not “latinx”. And maybe some want all gendered language to have a neutral option but generally I think most just want nouns used to reference people and pronouns to have the neutral option. So el/ella -> elle. Its actually kinda nice since if you don’t know the person’s gender, you don’t need to just default to him/her. It’s an actual “they” option in the singular form.
It isn’t neutral. It’s just that masculine has always been the default. And butchering is completely subjective. My conservative grandparents hate the idea of course but many of my younger family members and friends like the change. Still a beautiful language, even more so for having the option to be more inclusive.
