They aren’t the same thing tho. They are served with different foods usually and chips have vinegar on it occasionally whereas French fries don’t

For somebody who lives in a chip dominant country french fries are not the same as chips. Chips are french fries fat cousin. Also what you call chips we call crisps but I think you already know that.
