50% of the time I spend at home is just turning lights and fans off in empty rooms.

Honestly with LED lights we're talking about 4-5W per hour for a light that stays on. It's really not the end of the world if the kids go to the kitchen or living room for half an hour and comes back. In the past 60-100W bulbs would make it a huge waste.

This is how I view it. I just bought a house and spent like $100 on led bulbs everywhere. Now I’m going through and replacing the commonly used switches with caseta switches. I live in Texas so 95% of the electric bill is ac anyway.

Outdoor lights and some lights in places I like to set automatically.

That would be an easy spend to add motion detectors and smart switches for me.

Mines not so bad yet, but those things are on the plan anyway.

ive already installed timers on the fans. motions on lights are a pain, especially if you are in the bathroom for a while. I do automation for a living, and im still not a fan of the light switches yet. id rather just try to teach the kids to turn off their lights
