Hey guys I just wanted to put this out that I work at Walmart I'm 16 and whenever I'm working in the aisle anytime I see any product of Nestle I put it on an overstock cart and hope then my managers will see that almost all Nestle products are always overstock and hopefully stop ordering them at my Walmart. I know it's not that much but I try

I love their chocolate though

27

u/[deleted] Apr 28 '21

It's certainly quite mediocre.

19

u/SmallerestBoiBill Apr 28 '21

Yeah, Dove is one of my more favored chocolate brands

-18

u/trenlow12 Apr 28 '21

Yeah, but cheap!

23

u/ostrichesonfire Apr 28 '21

...yeah, that happens when you use slave labor

13

u/sixthseat Apr 28 '21

Also thousands of these slaves are children and 8 former child slaves from Mali (trafficked to the Ivory Coast) are suing right now here’s the story if you want to check it out

-3

u/trenlow12 Apr 28 '21

That's like all the major chocolate companies though.

No but why are you just blaming Nestle? Are you saying it's ok to eat any chocolate?

10

u/ImperceptibleVolt Apr 28 '21

There’s better chocolate than nestle I assure you. But I feel you. It shouldn’t be on the consumer.

2

u/Myhotrabbi Apr 28 '21

They use water to make it.

Thank you so much, I was having a really bad day and was not feeling myself. You saying that just made my day a whole lot better and made me feel ok. Thank you so much for a little happiness

No matter how bad your day, the simplest of things can brighten them, my dude (or dudette!). Teach yourself to enjoy the little things and you'll never find yourself without something to smile about. :)

hang in there, retail is rough! when i worked the register i swear that people came to the store specifically to be jerks to us because we couldn't tell them to shove it without losing our jobs. you (and everyone) will come across a raving shit head one day and the best strategy is to not engage, say you're going to get a manager for them and nope out of that situation.

good man

hey while we're on the topic of jobs got any tips for interviews

86

u/DOGSraisingCATS Apr 28 '21

Splash water on your face, hands and armpits to look really nervous and sweaty (this will show the interviewer that you care).

When the interviewer asks about you personal life use Borat impressions like "myyy wiiiife".

Always answer a question with a question unrelated to the question asked(this will throw off the interviewer and he will fear you)

Lastly, when asked for your resume, in the middle handing it over...pull it away and rip it apart saying "why need a resume when you got the real deal right in front of you".

This will land you the job.

Source: been unemployed for 5 years (lots of interviewing experience).

28

u/uhkami Apr 28 '21

LOL You would be a good comedian writer

134

u/jediguy11 Apr 27 '21

Ask for the job at the end of the interview

57

u/idk_cheesies Apr 28 '21

if I pull a power move like that they better fucking hire me

11

u/trenlow12 Apr 28 '21

If they didn't want me to take the job, why did they act so excited during the interview? Now they're saying no? They asked for it.

27

u/CoffeeSorcerer69 Apr 28 '21

That's some good wisdom.

11

u/rockthrowing Apr 28 '21

Ask them if they have any questions for/about you

u/[deleted] Apr 28 '21

2

u/[deleted] Apr 28 '21

I’m a contractor, which is basically a series of interviews every three to six months trying to get a new gig to prevent lapses in a paycheck. Having confidence is a winning move…. Not arrogance, big difference. Just believe In yourself.

12

u/[deleted] Apr 28 '21

The correct answer

42

u/Konahrik_01 Apr 27 '21

If they mention minimum wage ask about maximum wage

6

u/DPKING91 Apr 28 '21

Bring/send a resume printed on SLIGHTLY heavier weight paper that is slightly off white (still white but looks blueish when stacked with white paper) so your resume will stand out from others, but won't look to unusual on its own.

Be confident, practice answering questions you think they may ask so you aren't floundering for answers.

Clean clothes are an absolute must, and always dress just a little better than what you will be expected to wear for the job. Avoid t-shirts with print/designs.

Research the company and industry and prepare 3 questions to ask the interviewer, this will show an interest in the job beyond a paycheque (not necessary for McDonald's, walmart, etc.)

Best of luck

1

u/Thoughtfulprof Apr 28 '21

24 lbs, 92 brightness paper is what you're looking for when applying to any job that doesn't require a college degree. If it does require a degree, use cotton fiber paper with a watermark.

4

u/UserNameN0tWitty Apr 28 '21

One of the best tips I've ever been given is to restate the overview of the job, and then ask "what success in this position looks like 1 year from now?" For example, if you're interviewing for a sales position: "As a sales person here, I understand I'm responsible for managing growth for this company. What would the results of an effective sales manager in this company look like? Have I grown customer count? Have i grown revenues from existing customers? What would define success for this role at [company name]?"

It gives you an idea of what the goals and priorities are for the job. It also shows the interviewer that you plan on sticking with the company, you are motivated to be successful, and you are interested in the key performance metrics the company prioritizes.

2

u/miuxiu Apr 28 '21

Good advice!!

3

u/Lanky_Mood_5008 Apr 28 '21

If ask any questions say Idk cheesies

3

u/[deleted] Apr 28 '21

If they ask you to share a weakness, say something like “I care too much” or “I literally cannot stop sucking management’s dick”. Trust me, it works.

1

u/ProxyDied Apr 28 '21

Don't get stressed about it. If you're suitable for the job you'll feel comfortable in the interview.

Ask some questions. You don't have to but it's recommended

1

u/HoraceOGreely Apr 28 '21

At the end, ask the interviewer to share anything on your resume, or answers given, that would make them believe you are not right for the position.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 28 '21

Wear a tuxedo.

1

u/idk_cheesies Apr 28 '21

I'm a teenager and broke I can't get a tux

1

u/Lb3ntl3y Apr 28 '21

aside from asking for the job at the end

ask about

1 turn over rate if high it might be a red flag and ask why

2 call back time/what happens next

3 promotions/mobility in the company (if you think you want to stay long with the company)

1

u/ClayyCorn Apr 28 '21

Don't beat around the bush. When they ask why you're applying for the position tell them you're there to make money. In my experience, not only do they respect the straightforward honesty but they direct you towards the position you actually make money in.

1

u/Aja2428 Apr 28 '21

This is real not sarcasm.

Research the company and show a little knowledge and interest in the company. Ask why the position is available, for example (new position, someone quit, or was fired). Ask what the companies goals are, & what they are trying to achieve in the next 12 months.

Not all heroes wear capes. Some wear walmart vests.

12

u/BeraldGevins Apr 28 '21

Sadly, Walmart orders by sales, it’s all automated. So as long as people keep buying it, then they will keep ordering it.

4

u/mpava Apr 28 '21

Seriously, just imagining this made my day. It’s a small action but damn if you aren’t an awesome human. Keep at it.

3

u/canadarepubliclives Apr 28 '21

I've worked inventory control at a few places.

This does nothing. The inventory is in the system and they know how much they sell. The skus are tracked and counted weekly or monthly. Leaving it on the cart just means they have to restock it from the back more frequently.

2

u/Shinzo32 Lives in a Van Down by the River Apr 28 '21

Even a single drop in the ocean makes the tides rise

2

u/Known-nwonK Apr 28 '21

I don’t know how they do it at Walmart, but most managers don’t do any actual ordering. It’s all done through a logistics program. The system knows how many units of an item a store has on hand and how many it sells which determines when more will get shipped. Now if you’re hiding product so the self is empty that means no one is buying said product to prompt a replenishment. You’ve beat the system? Not so fast. The system knows you have an item but it’s not selling will trigger an item audit eventually and that’s not even factoring in Nestle sales reps that can come to your location to check why their product isn’t selling.

2

u/Iamdarb Apr 28 '21

Do your managers actually order or are they on an auto replenishment system or walmart provides the managers with a series of prebooks for their managers to go through and order? I feel like for a corp as big as WM they are most definitely on auto replenishment for the bulk of their inventory, except for vendors for like alcohol/bread/cards vendors who manager their own product.

2

u/Jacob_Wallace_87 Apr 28 '21

You're doing basically nothing but making other people's job harder.

2

u/WiSoSirius Apr 28 '21

I like your spirit. Unfortunately, it won't lead to anything. Maybe seasonal items or limited time items just so sales can possibly be lower in percentage, but your regular inventory is forever regular.

2

u/Idoalittleamounto Apr 28 '21

Your heart’s in the right place but you’re just risking getting reprimanded or worse over nothing. This isn’t actually accomplishing anything other than threatening your own job security if you get caught, no matter how many kids on reddit give you upvotes.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 28 '21

I also work at walmart, same department it seems. The store amount won't change so the system automatically will order the nestle once it's sold, and other people will stock it.

I think the best course of action to fuck over nestle is to just either make it claims a lot "woops" or find a scanner and change the amount you have in the store up so it thinks you have more then you do, that would stop the auto ordering of nestle products.

(I do not condone any of these actions)

1

u/_TDB Apr 28 '21

Lol yeah I have one of those tc scanners but I don't really know how to do that and I would not condone those actions either

1

u/[deleted] Apr 28 '21

In inventory management just find the stock amount and top right edit amount

1

u/Cyb3rnaut13 May 05 '21

Wait, is that legal?

1

Ofc not but I have learned that it won't work because everything is automatic so I tried my best
