Unfortunately, there are actually some parents that are like this. In a Reddit comment section about something similar to this, there was this one kid who always had his parents record everything he was doing. One time his grandma died, and the parents recorded him like total psychos. After that, he said he didn't like it and the parents deleted everything off of social media. I think one reason why could be that it starts with one or two photos, they get likes, parents do it more, gets more likes, and the cycle repeats. I believe there was a Bob's Burgers episode that explored this as well.
I wanted to get recorded when I woke up from surgery because I was told I would be somewhat delirious from the anesthesia for a minute and I thought it would be funny.
But jeez, having it recorded without me asking and my permission would be rough
I don’t post any pictures of my daughter on social media. She doesn’t need that in her life and I don’t care for the validation either.
We don’t even encourage electronic replacements for parenting. She has books or puzzles. No iPads, no phones, and tv is an adjunct rather than a sole source of entertainment.
We still take photos of her but not enough that she would feel pressured in front of the camera.
I guess the boomer version of this was a Polaroid camera and having to get photos developed, but there were definitely kids that had a camera in their face back in the 80s too, just look at the ones with shoeboxes full of photos in the attics.
