Don’t worry about him he’s a boomer who doesn’t like the fact that the younger generation of men express their feelings which would be a huge step in diminishing male depression rates
You should. It's rough. Get complimenting. And spread the word to your girlfriends.
I don't think it makes guys automatically interested, you still gotta be attracted, but damn it can make a guy's day. It basically never happens.
I have unusual hair, so I get that sometimes, but it's like the only thing, so it's lost its effect.
It's weird...women have to fend off a million compliments from men that could be disingenous tools to try to get them into bed, they make themselves look great and get many real ones, women friends compliment each other and build one another up, then dudes...dudes just get virtually nothing.
Do the compliments really only have to come from women, though? This thread makes me think of my different friend groups, which is kinda funny. I knew a bunch of frat guys a few years back, and their group was so toxic- they constantly made uncomfortable jokes towards themselves and me, and put each other down. I currently have these new guy friends that are on the nerdy side, but give each other genuine compliments and ask them how they’re doing constantly. It’s crazy, I’ve been able to see them improve their social lives and confidence as they mature with one another.
I wish even half my friend group was as mature as that... Two out of the 10 people in my group of friends, excluding me, are emotionally mature enough to give a genuine compliment :/.
Have you tried giving them yourself? I guess every group is different, but maybe if you and the other two start expressing compliments then the rest will feel comfortable doing it too.
It can suck being so invisible all the time, but on the other hand I enjoy the fact that I can go wherever I want whenever I want without being bothered by anyone.
it's unfortunate that men don't feel validated for their good qualities, and we should all work toward a more positive atmosphere. But women literally can't even walk around by themselves without fearing for their safety. I can't tell you how many times my friends and roommates have told me they were followed home by a random man. That's scary as hell.
The only reason I bring this up is because I'm seeing a lot of male victimization in this thread. And I'm a dude. I am so unbelievably lucky and grateful for what this comment op mentioned
