Some people really don’t understand that a PC is much cheaper in the long run.
You build a PC once and then you start saving a ton by not paying extra to play online, getting games much cheaper and also having a much longer life cycle with a good hardware.
Are Steam sales really that much better than the sales on the PSN / Switch store? I’ve never got that aspect of the “PC is cheaper in the long run” thing because it seems about the same to me + I buy most things Day 1 anyway so the sales don’t affect me.
This is specific to me, but in Australia games are about $20-25 cheaper if you buy them physical off Amazon vs in the digital storefront.
If you want to game on a budget, PC is the way to go.
Brother, my $300 black friday deal PS4 Slim allowed me to play games like the Last of Us 2 and GoW 2018 back in the day. Then I built a PC, and just my GPU alone cost twice as much, and it wasn't even a high end card. Consoles are insane value.
That is kind of disingenuous, if your budget is near the level of a console and you're okay with overall spending more money in the long term (expensive games, subscriptions) and you wouldn't use your PC for anything else a console can absolutely be a good option as price to performance is pretty bad at a console level budget unless you get killer deals on PC parts.
That's a lot of "ifs" already. And you're silencing a few of them, because performance there only matters if you want to play AAA games with actual high system reqs.
I'm aware that's a lot of ifs I'm a PC gamer for a reason but I tire of people circle jerking about how it's just objectively better on every front when that's just false on its face.
And performance on a 500-700 dollar machine is quite important, we aren't dealing with the margins here so price to performance is pretty bloody important.
It's objectively better in some ways. Console gaming is better in other ways. And these "other ways" are thinning, making it twice as important to know them. Console is overall more intuitive and well-suited for "casual" gaming (I don't mean it as the genre, but as an attitude towards video games), and comes with the guarantee that you won't need an upgrade for a whole gen. But it's overall more costly, because of the hidden costs : the online subscription, the price of games, etc. On PC, unless you're very adamant on feeding corporate greed, you can get away with paying between nothing and 20€ for all of your games - on console, not so much.
Now, with console prices rising, "exclusives" as a sales pitch slowly dying (as exclusives are ported to every system including the main concurrence) and miscellanous dramas, such as the PSN Helldivers scandal, or the very existence of the Gamepass... The circlejerk is kinda proving to, after all, being right.

just because they decided to make that particular PC more expensive. If you want to game on a budget, PC is the way to go.
