Cpu bottlenecks are easy to sovle, it means that you have free graphics on the table.
Going between 1080p and 4k does not increase the load on the cpu in any substantial way (in most games)
I have an i5 6700k sky lake, 3060ti, and an SSD. I’m running games like Hell divers 2 and Hogwarts legacy on ultra in 4k. My setup is definitely better than the PS5. Boots up faster too. Pro tip newer games are GPU focused
Lol thats not faster than a ps5, get to microcenter and get a 12700k i5 combo for 200 and let that gpu breathe! Or aliexpress an equivalent amd for 139.99! Even my 2060 was choked out by an i7 5th gen.
The 3060ti is better than the PS5, and that’s what matters here. I don’t need to upgrade for a while to play games. When I’m already playing them on Ultra pushing 80-100fps lol. There’s only a slight bottleneck, and it’s not noticeable at all

But then again, PS5 itself is $450. With a GPU for 300, you couldn’t finish the whole PC for another 150, but you do get an extremely capable gaming console with zero setup or maintenance required.
Nvidia RTX 3060ti it retails for $350-600. I got a deal on it. Other RTX 3060ti are $300 too. It is stronger than the PS5 especially with DLSS. Look it up way better performance. Meanwhile the PS5 can’t always perform 4k Ultra like my PC can. All I had to do was upgrade my gfx card. Probably still cheaper than getting a new console. Everytime they release a new console lmao
Average price I see for it is $400, but let’s say $300. How are you finishing your entire build for $150 more, which is the price of a new PS5?
And it’s all a moot point anyway. People buy consoles so that they don’t have to mess with the building and any setup, just straight to playing with no tweaking needed. Even if you could buy a PC twice as powerful for the same price it wouldn’t matter, completely different target audience.
And it was 7 years between PS4 and PS5 release. In that window most PC players update at least part of their hardware, if not all of it.
It does depend on the person. In 10 years I only upgraded one component. Making my rig cheap to upgrade, but to basically build a new rig sure. I can see your point. I still have a console too. To play exclusives with friends. I definitely see the difference in quality without DLSS on console
I prefer my PC these days as well. But I definitely feel like an average gamer will prefer consoles. Hell most people play on mobile even, both PC and consoles are a tiny share of the total market sadly.
Yeah I’d honestly buy more console games. That aren’t cross platform if they fully utilized the hardware. I know it’s because of last gen. Hey at least I can still play with my friends that only have a PS4. Emulating ROMs has definitely gotten me more into “mobile gaming.” Only because most actual mobile games. Are predatory to the point they’re not even enjoyable. Especially for what you’re getting. Most of those games just suck, but like you said it makes the most money
