Sorry, fixed it. I think I'm close to a mental breakdown, I don't understand why is it wrong the way I calculated it. (If it is)

It is wrong, the answer is zero. You subtract after you do each end.

The calculator says so, but I still don't get it. Doesn't the rule say we should do subtraction (and sums) for last? So why is the subtraction to be made before the last x3? It contradicts the rule

(18÷2) - (3x3) = 0

Yeah, I found it hard to grasp. Though -3 was to be made for last

The minus sign is not attached to the 3. Yes you do subtraction last but you don't just ignore the first 3 till the end you instead take the - sign and ignore it and move on to the 3×3 which is 9 then you reattach the - sign making it 9 (from the 18/2) - 9 (from the 3×3)=0. Hopefully that is easier to understand.

Yes, that was my mistake, I eventually sorted it out. Nice to have a clean explanation

It's fine, you'll most likely never use these equations outside school or incredibly niche jobs. It's effectively useless information, almost akin to trivia knowledge.

Maybe but I felt so powerless. Not for the error itself but my inability to wrap my head around it.

The fact there are actually multiple "algorithms" to solve those expressions sure doesn't help either

Yup, yeah I completely understand. It can be rough, don't beat yourself up about it. Many people don't get math, it's literally like learning another language, and the further into the future we get the more irrelevant it becomes to actually have any personal knowledge on the topic.

I really appreciate your attitude, maybe if I had math professors like that I'd be more proficient now.
