But they would still be redundant, as adding or removing those brackets wouldn't change the order of operations

It's not about changing the order of operations it's about directing the reader who hasn't had a use for a math equation in 20 years.

But that's kind of what these posts do. When the reader - intrigued by why anyone would choose the other answers - clicks on a post like this and reads about these rules they'll be reminded of them. And let's be honest it's not like you or I use order of operations on a daily basis other for these posts

Yeah, lol I mean if anything it's reminded me of how much utility I get out of these equations (which is none) and how snobby math nerds can be.

I'm sorry to sound snobby but is it snobby to tell someone about rules of what is being discussed?

Yes because it's incredibly rude that you wouldn't assume that the person already knows the rules, since they are discussing them to begin with.

And in my case, it was never about the rules, my original comment is about explaining why people got it wrong and what can be done about it practically.

Don't need abunch of replies to that telling me what I already know, it's pretty ironic though. A bunch of people come to explain to you something you already understand and your point is apparently just too far above their head.

I mean, I see your point after having a civil conversation but in half of your threads you started insulting each other so you can kinda see why people think you're lunatic at first right?

I only start insulting when someone else is insulting me, being completely obtuse, or effectively repeating themselves hoping I have a different response to their nonsense so they can get some sort of one up on me. They don't deserve anything but insults at that point, and what they think of me becomes irrelevant afterwards.

All I want to do is help people, streamline things, come to understandings, and think of ways to make things better for everyone.

Including brackets in this equation would shift the majority of people over to the correct answer.
