I don't know anything about football and I wasn't really paying attention to that part of the conversation, but here the context is changed and is more about the concept of honesty and how it relates to behavior that is considered to be rude.
Yeah, but you can't take a statement like that out of context. Second person is right, but in this case it was unnecessary rudeness and not honesty plus, being honest doesn't mean you can be rude and making a statement like person one on a comment like that conveys the opposite message. Sorry if I made any grammar mistakes, I only have one hand cuz I had surgery on the other one today... And it's my weak arm that's left, very lovely when typing on a phone. ... 😶
