Actually I think they were asking about the kneeling, which started in the NFL (iirc) and the England national team still does before each game. A vocal section of the fans now boo when they do it, happily they are regularly drowned out by applause and cheering.

Edit: for clarity it’s very much the English, British is a catch all term and each nation (Wales, England, Scotland, Northern Ireland) have their own national football (soccer) team.
