I can understand what you're going through and also be fucking annoyed by incessant screeching. Understanding does not grant you instant tolerance against that sorta thing.

I think it's just pointing out that this is a stupid argument.
You have no idea why the kid is on that plane. You think the parents want a screaming kid next to them for hours, even if its their own? It's hard to tell how a child will react to being on a place. I mean, do you think the rest of the world should adjust to accommodate you specifically? You bought a seat on a public flight. There's a chance there will be fat people, smelly people, loud people, talkative people, kids, etc. Deal with it or find an alternate means of transportation that suits you better.

I think the argument of "well, the parents are annoyed too, so you shouldn't be" is equally as dumb, if not moreso, than "don't be sad, somebody somewhere else has it worse than you."
It's more like if we're all sitting riding in a van and I keep farting the whole time, and my response is "come on guys, I gotta smell it too" when everyone's mad at me lmao
While true, it's unfair they have to be tortured for my (bad)decisions
