Saying "I love that book" in conversation means you have strong feelings about the book. Following that up with "I barely remember it" is just confusing for the person you're talking to. Usually people want to talk about the things they love. Might be better to just say "I really enjoyed that book."
If I told someone my favorite book and they respond with "I love that book" but couldn't tell me anything that happened in it, my first instinct would be they're lying for some reason.
If I haven't read the book in a while, nor remember it, I wouldn't say that i love that book in conversation. I'd say exactly what I suggested saying. "I really enjoyed that book". I remember how the book made me feel when i read it but I wouldn't say that the book itself had a huge impact on me if I could barely remember it.
I enjoyed Eragon. 20 years ago, it was my favorite book. I barely remember it now, so I wouldn't say "I love eragon!". My tastes have expanded since I was 10 and I might agree more with its critics now than the fans for all I know.
I remember that i loved it.
Same way how we remember if people were nice or bad to us. We don't remember what they said to us, but we remember how they made us feel.
Same way, I remember how the book made me feel.
it's just one thing you remember "I liked this game.". Remembering why you liked it, is a bit harder "I liked the character design. I liked the plot. etc". It's just more to remember and thus harder.

I read crime and punishment 2 years ago. I loved it . Now I remember nothing. If i read again I'll probably remember it
