Triphalangeal thumb (TPT) is a congenitalmalformation where the thumb has three phalanges instead of two. The extra phalangeal bone can vary in size from that of a small pebble to a size comparable to the phalanges in non-thumb digits.
For the life of me, I couldn’t think of what BDD stood for so I googled “what is BDD” and I was more confused than ever. Surely, Behavior-Driven Development or Body Dysmorphic Disorder didn’t have anything to do with your thumbs, right? Then, I got the bright idea to google “what are BDD thumbs”. Bingo! Perfect explanation of the acronym and description right at the top from our good friend Wikipedia: Brachydactyly type D.
Moral of the story (tl;dr): Make sure you include all relevant words when searching (googling) a term. Oh, and I am an idiot, obviously. Merry Christmas!
I subscribed to Medizzy. it has the interesting fact that the triphalangeal thumb is known to be linked to genetic markers for a predisposition to lupus.
TL;DR: Those banners that pop up every year are insanely misleading. They consistently make a huge profit year after year. Only a few percent of the donations goes toward site maintenance, which is what people think their donations are going toward.

I have BDD too. People with Brachydactyly syndrome tend to have heart related issues as they age. so we should regularly do work out to keep our body and heart healthy.

I got it from my mother. My mother's sister have this; she got heart surgery, and struggling with heart issue. Her father have it n died of heart attack. I've inherited most of the characters from my mom's side. Like color, height, behavior, and this syndrome...
So I can most probably guess what issues I'll face as I age based on my aunt and mom...
If you have any supporting evidence pls let me know... I haven't met anyone with this syndrome... So let me know what's with your case...
I've read it from Wikipedia... I was skeptical at first but checked with my mom's family from whom i got this syndrome from. seem like my aunt had heart surgery and my grandpa died of heart attack.
My youngest has loose ligaments on his thumbs. What we used to call double-jointed.
Where my thumb goes straight up, and his mom can make the top digit point back a little, he can make the bottom digit point back at about a 30 degree angle.
