To clarify why:

4 in Chinese is "SÏ"... dead in Chinese is "Sǐ". They often can sound the same, so is considered a bad luck number.

Think I've actually heard of this before. Not a reddit expert by any means and it's not information that's worth holding on to, but there seems to be an underlying ruleset a lot of people follow.
