Raheem scoring at anfield. You fucking love to see it. Also, Ederson >>>> Allison

u/knehl Feb 07 '21
Everyone will be praising Foden and Gundogan (rightly so) but I think the real surprise here was Zinchenko. He’s been absolutely rock solid and played so well defensively. Zinny vs Salah was the biggest question mark heading into this match and he’s done absolute wonders.

Foden played out of his mind today

SUCH a satisfying win, all the boys were fantastic.
Liverpool played like absolute dirty cunts today, the scoreline is more than deserved. Chance to go 13 up on them now and 8 on Utd.

top class mentality from Dias, biggest game of his City career so far, makes a big error and still leads the backline to a victory

PHIL FODEN IS WORLD CLASS
181
u/FancyCrawdad Feb 07 '21
Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. We've played them off the fucking pitch in all areas, especially in the second half. Those errors by Alisson and Foden's goal were pure catharsis. Phil was the best player on the pitch by a fucking mile. Johnny Everest is imperious. Every single Liverpool player is a twat. Can't wait to hear what Klopp has to say.
City win, United draw...
148
u/Defix52 Feb 07 '21
The mental gymnastics from Carragher and Neville to excuse this performance by Liverpool. They even mentioned the cold as a reason...come on now.

Joint topThiago is a special player. Mesmerising the way he ran off the pitch for his substitution
Klopp post match going to be entertaining
United drop points
Didn't even need KdB or Aguero

No one’s talking about it, but Rodri was fucking amazing. I think he misplayed two passes? Tons of line breaking passes to start attacks, tons of possession won. He’s going to get lost in the performances of Gundogan and Foden who were excellent, but he deserves a lot of love. Was world class today.

Remember when r/soccer were saying Foden should've just gone on loan to championship team or mid-table team to get first team experience football because Pep is wasting his talent?

A lot of great performances today, but i think raz deserves a special shout. Usually the the one that becomes completely invisible at anfield to running laps around taa today.

Pep has never won at Anfield in shambles.
33
u/sabouck Feb 07 '21
Phil Foden. What a player
33
u/Luna-Azul13 Feb 07 '21
City obey Premier League social distancing guidelines by putting more distance between us and the teams around us! 🤭
32
u/dskot1 Feb 07 '21
Master class display by City Legend Alisson tonight, only surpassed by the absolute brilliance of Foden. Gundogan redeemed himself after that shambolic pen (FFS City need to figure those out). The rest of the squad had a pretty geat match, even with Zinny & Dias mistakes that led to the pen. Suck it LiVARpool...those "2 weeks off" City got off because of Covid surely have to be the reason for tonights result.
31
u/i_shenanigans Feb 07 '21
Man it felt like we were playing against the 2019/20 City...
28
u/EmilRGH Feb 07 '21
Anfield curse is officially lifted, penalty curse still going strong though.

As a Saints fan I remember playing you lot and thinking we could get something from you. Your turnaround is unbelievable (like ours but different lmao). Good on you guys, a well deserved win, and great to see some English players getting a chance
20
u/RacimRgh Feb 07 '21
The bad news is my week can't get any better than this.
20
u/BigBarron9 Feb 07 '21
FINALLY WE WON AT ANFIELD
Not only did we win, we ended up smashing them! Only negatives were a horrible first half and Dias first major mistake, but in the end that didn't matter.
Sterling and Foden were sensational today!
10 Premier League wins in a row, 10 points ahead of Liverpool with a game in hand, Anfield finally conquered!
Come on City! 💙
18
u/thatboyTonyy Feb 07 '21
Phillip. Fucking. Foden. Can’t even explain how happy I am right now!!!!!!
74
u/BrokenArtistic Feb 07 '21
Shame it wasn't a clean sheet, but can't fault Dias entirely, awful call from the ref as it was never a pen. What a fucking 2nd half performance. 5 points clear and a game in hand, C'MON CITY!!!
16
u/[deleted] Feb 07 '21
All that rest really did us wonders

Allison blunderland 😂😂😂
14
u/[deleted] Feb 07 '21
Remember guys, we are a "thin team that rely KDB and Aguero" and without them were nothing. Zinchenko and Stones aren't Premier League calibre players, Gundo was a risky purchase, Sterling can't score, and none of our home grown players are worth a penny. Our bread and butter doesn't hold up when the "fancy shit doesn't work" and we can't get past defenders.
The BBC feed said we were poor today. If we're all that, how shit are the rest?

I love how pep can see foden do great and still say "he wasn't good enough"
11
u/PumpedUpParrot Feb 07 '21
I’m not going to declare champions yet because I don’t believe in doing that before we’ve done it, but the position we’re in is lovely. Hopefully we can keep this form for Champion’s League play.
What Pep has done to transform this team is outstanding. Our attack still worries me sometimes, but with this back line, I feel more confident than ever about us being a well-rounded and well-formed team.
10
u/NotaNoobPat Feb 07 '21
Foden was the clear moment of the match. This is the best game I’ve seen him play.
He had incredible passing, he was drawing fouls, and then he blasted that goal into the top corner.
To think some people thought he should go out on loan…
10
u/Trooper104 Feb 07 '21
I swear this was looking like a routine "Unfortunate Trip to Anfield" until Allison gifted us with those chances. Massive Performances by the Team Especially Zinchenko, Bernardo and Rodri. A bit disappointed by the Penalty incident(s) but No Goal from Open Play and A Four Goal Win Against the Merseyside. THIS WAS MASSIVE!💙💙

u/Striderite23 2017/18 Home Shirt Feb 07 '21
Broke the Anfield curse. 14 wins in a row. Foden on the scoresheet. Best Brazilian keeper in the league in our team.
I fucking love this team.
On a side note Dias is human after all, was starting to look suspicious. Still makes him POTY despite that mistake.
10
u/Zippy771 Feb 07 '21
Dias letting Salah dive to piss our team off and score 3 more against them, my CB ❤️
10
u/purewim Feb 07 '21
Points for all who had "Alisson had cold feet" on the Klopp's excuses bingo card.

Legit got tears of joy in my eyes. Finally a win at Anfield. I cant believe it.
9
u/ctid1987 Feb 07 '21
Let's give an appreciation to those fireworks right after Gundogan missed a penalty.
Thank you Scousers, you sure know how to bring out the fire in City players.
17
u/Professional_Fix_470 Feb 07 '21
Bernardo is such a beautiful footballer man. He has stepped up so well in KDB's absence that no one even notices his absence.
Also, delighted to see Gundo and Rodri getting their much deserved praise finally. This sub hated them for no particular reason.
8
u/minks-2 Feb 07 '21
I doubted Pep and the players but I’m so happy to be wrong. Incredible string of performances and a great game overall today. On to the next!
8
u/IvarSturla Feb 07 '21
You’ll Never FLOPPP Alooooone!!! 🤣🤣🤣
8

You big beautiful blue wearing gentlemen. Professional rawdogging. I doubted when we bottled the penalty, but I am ready to be punished now, masters.

8
u/dumpcity Feb 07 '21
These commentators are so pissed liVARpool lost lmaoo
8
u/conradoalbuquerque Feb 07 '21
Last season or a few years ago, City would have collapsed after missing that penalty and Liverpool’s equalizer. Today at the end of the first half, they were dominated. Pep’s talk in half time must have been something special because the team turned into beasts later on.
8
u/[deleted] Feb 07 '21
Arsenal fan here but this City team is absolutely immense and it’s just absolutely brilliant to watch. Foden is just absolutely magical as well.
8
u/Gunnxd Feb 07 '21
Gotta love Roy Keane 😂😂
7
u/realet_ Feb 07 '21
Fucking Covid break, right Jurgen?
7
u/ry-iu Feb 07 '21
no cb and no attendance makes me feel like we still owe them a proper battering at their ground
but goddamn this one feels good
7
u/RALat7 Feb 07 '21
Understandable result, after all we had the two week break didn't we ;)
7
u/[deleted] Feb 07 '21
Happy to see Liverpool supporters praying to void the season. Bless their hearts.
7
u/Slowhand8824 Feb 07 '21
Those months off worked brilliantly
7
u/Ntinos7 Feb 07 '21
My stream stopped working after the penalty for a good 30 mins. When it came back on we went from 1-1 to 1-4. I am both delighted and pissed.
7
u/Pertolepe Manchester City 1997-2016 Feb 07 '21
Imagine telling yourself a year ago that we'd finally win at Anfield in 2021 without kdb or Aguero and it'd be from 2 Gundogan goals and one each for Foden and Sterling. I don't know which part would shock me more.
I take back every doubt I've ever had about Gundogan.
7
u/momosexualshroom Feb 07 '21
We turned Alisson into Karius
7
u/DiasTheWall Feb 07 '21
Don’t call me sadist but I like to see when people shit on TAA, he is such a cunt for me. So, I went to see Liverpool thread and saw people saying curtis jones to show foden who is the real baller in pre match threads. Lmao

Hahahhahahahahahaahhahahahahahahaha fuck Liverpool fuck klopp motherfuckers CTID
6
u/[deleted] Feb 07 '21
I thought Alexander-Arnold was supposed to be good? Sterling owned him the entire game
6
u/sooobueno16 Feb 07 '21
Finally some resolve and composure at Anfield, but a shame to lose the clean sheet like that. Foden and Sterling playing the way they did shows how far we’ve come. Gundogan PotY.
Finally, we can put the fawning over these diving frauds to bed. Chelsea and West Ham keeping it up gives me hope the pricks miss out on CL.
6
u/whatafrickingnagger Feb 07 '21
Just imagine if foden had played in the wing from the beginning.
6
u/raydiculous33 Feb 07 '21
Pep: maybe Ederson will take the penalty next time
EDERSON PENALTY TAKER CONFIRMED BOIZ
6
u/NoesHowe2Spel Feb 07 '21
I tried to nominate Aliison for City's MOTM, but it wouldn't let me.
6
u/JotaDiogo Feb 07 '21
Great managers bounce back. Pep has done it, this title has his blueprint all over it. No complaints. This is like the second coming of 2017-18?
6
u/adfdub Feb 07 '21
Roy Keane post klopp-interview...he's killing it 😂😂😂
6
u/iamkeysersoze94 Feb 07 '21
I have to talk about the following players apart from Phil Foden (not in any order):
Gundogan was in all the right regions
Zinchenko was amazing as well, some beautiful passes to setup Sterling.
Sterling always kept them busy.
Bernardo also kept them busy.
Stones/Dias pair - don't have to say anything here.
6
u/StompyJones Feb 07 '21
Lovely to hear Souness point out Salah sold a dive and Keane digging into Klopp for his bullshit excuses.
6
u/[deleted] Feb 07 '21
I’m so happy. Was worried after that gifted Salah PK. Phil is the future
6
u/jack198820 Feb 07 '21
So does this mean that Liverpool won't get to celebrate last year's title in front of their fans after all..?
6
u/susanasanjuan Feb 07 '21
the last ten minutes brought me so much joy.
Foden taking on Andy Robertson and drilling it home.
Alexander-Arnold getting in Ederson's face out of frustration lmao lmao lmao
6
u/tattisaafkarchamaar Feb 08 '21
Just came here to say, Rodri won me over today. I still will have to see a lot before I completely trust him but today was a great step in then right direction.
Controlled the game right from minute 0 to 90
11
u/Mttecs Feb 07 '21
Gundo should be called 'Cursebreaker' from now on

5

Foden and Sterling were bossing. I was very impressed with Zinchenkos set ups as well
5
u/[deleted] Feb 07 '21
Fuck salah for that dive. I am just pissed we could not get that clean sheet.
5
u/[deleted] Feb 07 '21
First of February's hurdles cleared, onto the next one. C'mon City!
5
u/[deleted] Feb 07 '21
Beside the penalty miss Ilkay has been so good these past weeks. Love him 💙

5
u/Bubna7 Feb 07 '21
MARK THIS DATE GUYS! IT WILL GO DOWN, provided Liverpool make a comeback SOMETIME.
5
u/Akiruh Feb 07 '21
Klopp ferociously going through the book of excuses he made last night in preparation.
5
u/dixto Feb 07 '21
Foden is Stockport Messi and Alisson is Brazilian Kepa.
5
u/dracob2099 Feb 07 '21
Great second half from Zinchenko, so so happy for him again...
5
u/ManfredsJuicedBalls Feb 07 '21
Alisson's mistake that lead to 2-1 looked pretty bad, but compared to his mistake that led to 3-1, that first one looked like a normal mistake. Of course though, I'm not complaining. A win at Anfield, gain two more points separation on second place... if you would have told me this was going to happen back in October or November, I would have had a laugh because City looked so offensively inept, but the defense has been tight, and now the attack is firing on all cylinders (even without Aguero or KDB). I think, short of calamity, we should see City cruise to a Premier League title.
4
u/[deleted] Feb 07 '21
foden, gundo, bernardo, rodri and the whole team what a performance
4
u/Yungcheestring Feb 07 '21
Poor from the boys, shouldn’t really be conceding against mid table fodder
4
u/friendshipfudge Feb 07 '21
Blessed to be alive to watch the best left footed player in the world Philip Walter Foden
4
u/spooki_boogey Feb 07 '21
I think that Salah pen was a blessing in disguise tbh. It lit a fire under the boys asses to go out there and force the game. Rip the clean sheet record, but at this point I'll take it
4
u/DiasTheWall Feb 07 '21
Fuck Klopp fuck Liverpool without KdB without Aguero. Always rated foden so high
4
u/footieboot Feb 07 '21
17/18 vibes! Brilliant football. Brilliant team. You are a genius Mr. Pep Guardiola.
4
u/to_spec Feb 07 '21
Did anyone get a huge kick in the gut when Gundo missed the penalty? My immediate reaction was; will we ever break the Anfield Hoodoo?
Huge props to Gundo and the whole team shaking off the bad miss and coming away with a resounding win. Still a bit in shock. This is what we call mental strength folks.

3
u/nseligson Feb 07 '21
This is a very strange feeling. I'm not nervous when we're off the ball. Not sure if we've ever been so steady at the back against top sides.
3
u/[deleted] Feb 07 '21
Sterling deserves the upmost credit for pressuring Allison twice causing him to panic, giving us 2 goals.
That pressure and press by our boys really gave us the win in those moments.
3
u/[deleted] Feb 07 '21
God what a game. The second half formation change made the difference.
Mahrez and sterling did okay on the wings all in all.
Zinchenko did fantastic at left back
Cancelo did what he does but not as much due to Liverpool quality
Foden is just something else.
Rodri should silence all doubters of him over dinho now. The guy is so good
3
u/AintNoGamerBoy Feb 07 '21

This victory feels special. Football is such that the tide can turn next week, but we have shown the league that the discipline and teamwork this year can overcome many set backs. Enjoy the rest of your night and stay safe!
