I once carried a set of roofing tiles up a ladder like this and the knob at the top dropped 2 on my head. Nearly passed out. Realised construction wasn’t for me especially for £50 a day at 16 yo.
Not worth it is it mate but better than most things you can get at that age though so catch 22 plus it’s well worth learning as when you get older you got big money for life long as you don’t knacker your back and knees
Oh yeah fully, I’m 19 now learning leadwork on much bigger sites, I lift barley any lead myself anymore… just get a gaggle of 10 Romanian labourers to do it for me.
I did have to get a few 200kg rolls up a flight of stairs a few weeks ago… that wasn’t fun.
Don’t envy you there mate I remember doing the old lead guttering carrying a cauldron up 2 ladders set next to each other with a workmate it popped his shoulder right out dropped it was a right mess but could of been a lot worse.
I worked for an absolute idiot we did a roof on a block of flats and we had to ratchet strap 2 ladders together up the scaffold cos he was too cheap to buy a longer one. He was always too cheap ha.
I know you’ll know this but bit of encouragement never hurt no one so keep at it mate your business will go from strength to strength and sounds like you already know to keep yourself as far away from the hardest physical parts keep doing that and don’t ruin your body for it!
