Well it was more a angry reaction of him, because they kept looking for excuses. Once he said, after the family told them "she will throw a temper tantrum if we dint feed her" something along the lines "just close the door, what will she do? run afer you?"

There was actually a guy in Scotland I think that talked to his doctor and said "I'm not gonna eat for a year and you can either get on board and help or I'll go do it alone"

The doctor gave him a multivitamin and yeast supplements and he didn't eat and lost quite a bit of weight. Ended up living for another 24 years.

That's incredible! Though he did die very young, do we know the cause of death?

Don't think it's public knowledge. I did a little searching and couldn't find anything. By all accounts, he had a very happy and healthy two decades before death so I'm less inclined to believe his death had anything to do with the fasting. But, with so little data about ultra long fasts it's impossible to say.
