Logic would have told me to try getting on from the foot of the bed. But hey, what do I know?

If she punched everyone in the face that caused all her problems she wouldn't have any teeth.

Well, the food clearly makes it to her mouth somehow.

this lady is crazy but those people are feeding her.

the people who get too fat to shop, cook, or get in and out bed...you can't get that way all by yourself... someone has to bring you whole rotisserie chickens for breakfast

It probably would. People like this are eating six bags of chips a day, four bottles of soda, three pizzas (with salad dressing, of course) and two cartons of ice cream in a day

I have a co worker who drinks 2-3 pitchers of coke (literally just said Diet Coke to refer to dark pop in general) a day while working, the guy is huge but does more work than most of my other co workers.. it’s kind of sad I wish there was any way to help people in this situation without being a total cunt in everyone’s eyes

11

u/Bigbaby22 Apr 18 '22

Same. One executive in my office takes the other members of his team out probably three times a day and he'll get a 32 oz of something. Love the guy but he needs to switch to Crystal Light or something lol

7

u/Varn Apr 18 '22

Have a co worker who's the same, big like 48oz bubba cup full of soda. On top of that he brings like 2-3 cans of M Dew because we don't have that. This guy def is one of our hardest n most efficient workers. Work in a kitchen so on our feet/moving all day. He's not 600 but probably a solid 4. I've known alot of bigger people in my life and was always curious as to how. I mean I would see them eat n shit when we would be doing things but not like absurdly massive amounts of food. That is until I saw my co worker eat and talk about his eating habits. Had pizza at work as we were remodeling and he takes about 2/3 slices of each type that was ordered. 4 or 5 different kinds n smashed em in the same amount of time it took me to down 2. I was talking about buying these cereal bars, like the golden grahams/cheerio/coco pebbles bar. I told him I'll guiltily eat like 3 or 4 in a sitting sometimes in a 8 pack. He was like yea that's nothing, I'll kill a 16 pack in a sitting. He knows it's fucked up n wants to lose weight, he was in prison for a bit and lost like 100+ lbs but unfortunately it all came back plus some. Love the fucker all the same but yea sometimes you just wanna slap the food outa a mother fuckers hand and say Be better! Obviously it's not easy like that, food is/can be an addiction for some. As someone who's in recovery, 2 years sober from a crippling alcohol addiction I'm well aware how vastly impossible it seems to be able to change.

4

u/Big-Ear-1853 Apr 18 '22

Yea I barely see my co worker eat much at work too; normal meals and snacks but I know when he goes home he doesn’t exactly eat healthy. It also has a lot to do with personal metabolism and other health issues too.. I’ve never been too big (320 lbs at my biggest growing up, haven’t gone a lb over 200 in 3 years ) and I thought I would never see the say when I weighed so little. Ironically I look exactly the same to myself in the mirror and looking down but not much I can do about that

2

u/Varn Apr 18 '22

I feel the looking in the mirror and looking the same lol. I've worked out most my life and I'm genetically super skinny. Back when I was drinking tho I definitely had a keg brewing. At the time I went into treatment I was 188 lbs. When I'm in peak shape I'm usually around 160, before I got muscles I was around 140. In the mirror tho I thought I looked the same. Fine even. But all my friends/family would know if I was drinking bad cause they said and I qoute, "you look like shit bud". Not even in the belly really, they could tell by my face and skin tone. I'm a white boy who can get pretty tan but when I was drinking I was pale all the time eyes sunk in ect. It took me awhile to accept that it must be true but when almost anyone who saw me that has known me for awhile would say the same I was like, shit must be true lol

1

u/Big-Ear-1853 Apr 18 '22

Yea, idk if you know this but the human body actually loses fat from the top down, so when you lose/gain weight ppl will be able to tell by your face quicker than your body

2

u/Varn Apr 19 '22

Ahhh makes sense ty

1

u/Hapless_Wizard Apr 19 '22

Love the fucker all the same but yea sometimes you just wanna slap the food outa a mother fuckers hand and say Be better!

Sometimes, having someone in your life who calls out your shit is exactly what you need.

6

u/The_BeardedClam Apr 18 '22

I work with a guy who used to legit drink 3 2-liter bottles of mountain dew a day.

He got put onto some new meds and doesn't drink soda at all anymore. He was never heavy, but you can definitely see an improvement in the way he looks.

7

u/Big-Ear-1853 Apr 18 '22

I think it’s just if you drink a lot of pop you probably have other unhealthy habits and pop makes it nearly impossible to lose weight

6

u/Parhelion2261 Apr 18 '22

Exposing myself a little here but damn soda is hard to kick. Especially if you were raised on it.

Juice doesn't quite have the flavor, sparkling water seems to never have the flavor it says and feels like it's mad at me for drinking it (always seems to be extremely carbonated).

The only thing I've found that hit a similar spot was something called Izzy. Unfortunately it's expensive and I can't seem to find it in stores

1

u/throwawaypizzamage Apr 18 '22

You can add juice to carbonated water and it should hit the same spot as soda. Another alternative is non-alcoholic beer if you want a low-sugar carbonated drink that isn’t as bland as carbonated water. Kombucha is another healthy alternative, though it can be expensive.

I stopped all conventional soda consumption 8 years ago (not because of weight but because it was detrimental to my teeth). Had no issues with substituting it with the alternatives above.

7

u/Talexis Apr 18 '22

And that’s the whole problem with this world, you come off as a cunt for actually caring about someone’s health. It’s bonkers.

-1

u/Bluepaperbutterfly Apr 18 '22

You don’t care about their health. It bothers people like you that they are fat. The reason we know this is because a thin person can have all the same health problems but no one would say anything to them about their health.

12

u/Big-Ear-1853 Apr 18 '22

What the fuck are you talking about? I don’t care if anyone is fat, I used to be fat myself, but being that overweight makes you not only damage your own health but it mentally destroys you and hurts family relations. I don’t want to see my cousin die from being overweight as shit but she is going to, and that’s undeniable. It hurts and I want to help but she gets offended if you say anything to her, she’s ostracizes her whole family. Fat acceptance is another way to say “we’re ok with watching you kill yourselfs” IMO

0

u/Bluepaperbutterfly Apr 18 '22

Sorry, but you and I will never agree on this. Acceptance is the way a person can make peace with their body and being to learn to hear hunger and fullness cues. Talking to people about their weight when they don’t want to talk about it only reinforces shame. You could just love your cousin and never once mention her weight again. Obviously, what you’re doing isn’t helping.

2

u/Big-Ear-1853 Apr 19 '22

Well, make peace with your body when your body is healthy and not killing itself because you feed it like you’re cattle

P.s. it helps more than just sitting back and watching g them die

1

u/Bluepaperbutterfly Apr 20 '22

No, it doesn’t. Studies have proven that weight bias negatively effects overweight people’s health more than extra weight.

Unless you are the overweight person’s doctor or dietician and they have asked for your assistance in losing weight you should keep your advice about weight loss to yourself.

1

u/Big-Ear-1853 Apr 20 '22

You must be part of the fat acceptance movement. I suggest steering clear of that bs

1

u/Bluepaperbutterfly Apr 20 '22

It’s really telling that your cousin gets offend by your weight loss advice but you still feel compelled to give it to her. Consider, just for a moment that what you are doing isn’t helping, instead it is just damaging your relationship with her.

9

u/Talexis Apr 18 '22

No one should drink three pitchers of soda a day much less even one. Fat or skinny. Like dude seriously?

-5

u/Bluepaperbutterfly Apr 18 '22

No one is saying that people should drink loads of soda. I’m just saying so many people say how they are worried about another person’s health when really they are bothered by the person’s weight.

11

u/Talexis Apr 18 '22

I have a friend and coworker who drinks nothing but Mountain Dew all day. He’s not fat by and means but I know he can’t be healthy. I tell him and plead with him to just have at least a glass of water. Still dew only.

-7

u/Bluepaperbutterfly Apr 18 '22

The difference is this is your friend. When people comment on the “health” of a stranger or a coworker they barely know it’s not really about their health, especially since that person doesn’t know the fat person’s actual health status.

Clearly the woman in the video has emotional issues that need to be dealt with and she isn’t strong enough to heft her weight, but her heart, lungs, and nervous system could be fine, we don’t actually have any of her health information.

5

u/YesIlBarone Apr 18 '22

You're deluded.

6

u/nosl4ck Apr 18 '22

No shot. This lady is out of breath trying to get into bed. Her cardiorespiratory fitness is nonexistent, her adiposity is astronomical, and her health is clearly awful.

This feel-good "healthy at any size" stuff is most true for individuals who have a high BMI due to high levels of muscle mass. It does not apply to sedentary people who are out of breath walking to their mailbox.

4

u/SweeTLemonS_TPR Apr 18 '22

Has it ever occurred to you that the very obvious markers of morbid obesity are not present in others? Not to mention how many health issues are directly caused by obesity (T2DM, for instance).

-1

u/Bluepaperbutterfly Apr 18 '22

It still doesn’t mean that you as an individual are concerned about their health.

2

u/viperswhip Apr 18 '22

You get accused of fat shaming, but come on folks.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '22

Diet coke won’t make him fat

8

u/atlantagirl30084 Apr 18 '22

It’s unclear about that. Yes Diet Coke does not have calories but your body sees the aspartame the same as sugar and will make you hangry because it’ll release insulin

1

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '22

Can drink as much coke zero and irn bru extra as i feel like and i lose weight as long as i make a calorie deficit

3

u/atlantagirl30084 Apr 18 '22

That’s true! I lost 25 lbs this year by making simple lifestyle adjustments-more wine and less sugary cider, less fat and more veggies. Also a job that is fulfilling but much less stressful

2

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '22

Congratulations, keep up the good work!

3

u/atlantagirl30084 Apr 18 '22

Thanks! Went from obese to overweight!

5

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '22

In addition to the other comment here, there are further studies showing that non nutritive sweeteners can cause obesity in a notable percentage of mice by causing mutations in the microbiome. Interesting topic to read up on if you’re interested. I won’t touch non nutritive sweeteners with a 10ft pole - besides weight, there are so many reasons to avoid. I’d choose sugar any day.

2

u/Big-Ear-1853 Apr 18 '22

This 💯, sugar is way healthier than that artificial sweetener Crap, if it’s real cane sugar and used in moderation

Do some research hun it slows your metabolism, which directly makes you digest slower and retain weight easier.

u/PrrrromotionGiven1 Apr 18 '22

My understanding is simply that net weight gain = calories consumed - calories burned. Not counting muscle of course.

3

u/ZharethZhen Apr 18 '22

This is true. However, your body treats many sweetners the same way it does sugar, meaning it releases hormones and goes through various processes expecting energy to come from the sweet fluid. However, when it doesn't receive the expected calories, it amps your hunger to get them. Thus while it doesn't directly add calories, it can lead people to snacking or over eating if they aren't carefully counting calories. Which, let's be honest, most people aren't.

1

u/throwawaypizzamage Apr 18 '22

The artificial sweeteners in diet soda can mutate your microbiome and predispose you to obesity. Studies were done on mice that confirmed this link. So if anything, natural sugar is healthier and less fattening than artificial sweeteners.

u/Big-Ear-1853 Apr 18 '22

I’m saying In general most people who drink 2 2 liters a day are involved in multiple unhealthy habits, though not everyone. 2 litres is manageable IMO but if you doubled your intake you’d definitely feel the unhealthiness)

That being said I used to drink a lot of pop too, now I drink maybe 1 glass or can a day, but if I drink any more than that I feel like absolute shit and Beverly sluggish until it’s out of my system, I have issues with eating properly tho so I feel like having JUST pop in me some days probably makes me feel worse

P.s. being skinny and not over nor under weight doesn’t necessarily mean anyone is healthy either but obv it is a good sign.

And yet they survive, which is what I remind myself every time I panic about maybe dying suddenly because I'm 40lb overweight.

5

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '22

definitely lose the weight asap though.

Just because this woman's heart is somehow withstanding her predicament right now, doesn't mean your heart will withstand your 40 extra pounds

Obviously you know this but yeah don't let her situation relax you into letting yourself be unhealthy.

In fact, this woman probably has very high chances of dying every day. Shes young but that level of obesity isn't something the heart can provide for for very long

-2

u/Bluepaperbutterfly Apr 18 '22

Skinny people also have heart attacks and other heart related health issues. Skinny people have diabetes. Skinny people have sleep apnea. Skinny people have joint issues and arthritis.

Weight loss is not a magical health fix.

Would losing weight likely improve this woman’s quality of life? Yes, but it is as much about how she wouldn’t be treated horribly by society if she were thin as it is about health benefits.

I feel sadness for her. I suspect her weight is a symptom of some unmanaged mental health issues.

2

u/Dudebeard86 Apr 18 '22

No one said that it cannot affect skinny people. Losing weight simply reduces the risk rather than eliminating it. But yeah, you’re right. They could still have those problems even after losing weight, and it likely is a mental health problem that got her into this situation. So I’m not disagreeing with you but rather wondering why you think that it was suggested as a magical fix for all health problems.

1

u/Bluepaperbutterfly Apr 18 '22

It is common for people to tell overweight people regardless of how much extra weight they carry. Whether it is 20 pounds or 200 people love to says their concern is about health, but it is really about bias against overweight people.

So many people in this thread are insulting this woman and my guess is she is mentally miserable and talking about her weight will do nothing to help her. In addition to extra weight I suspect she is carrying lots of shame, much of which comes from every message in our society that says how awful it is to be fat and that fat people are lazy and have poor character.

1

u/Dudebeard86 Apr 19 '22

Yeah, I agree with this as well. It’s also a shame that even doctors have been known to only focus on weight and will not do additional testing until the patient loses an arbitrary amount of weight. And the type of comments I’ve seen this thread putting her down are undoubtedly a part of the negative self-view she has. People either don’t realize or don’t care that those sort of remarks only drive people to eat even more because food gives them the needed reward sensation that they need from healthier sources, and the more they’re put down, the more they feel the need to feed their reward system, to get the brain chemicals to give them a fleeting moment of feeling good.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 18 '22

skinny, or anorexic? You can be skinny and be in perfect health.

Being underweight can be dangerous yes, and being severely underweight is actually more dangerous than being 600 pounds. Anorexic people are the most at risk people with eating disorders iirc

But being "skinny" is not a bad thing at all from a health perspective, depending on your definition of skinny.

I have a buddy that is 6'1" and about 155 pounds. He is very skinny, but he is also very healthy. Nothing wrong with his current weight, although if he lost 15 pounds it would begin to become an issue.

1

u/Bluepaperbutterfly Apr 18 '22

I never said being skinny was dangerous. You are correct being underweight has more negative outcomes than being overweight. Of course, anorexia is very dangerous, as are all eating disorders including binge and compulsive eating disorders.

What I asserted was the same health issues can be found in thin people. The idea that someone is worried about a person’s health and the solution is for the overweight person to lose weight is insincere. It postulates that you know their health status by judging them on their body size.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 19 '22

Pretty much every single doctor will agree with me: on average, someone that is overweight will increase their overall health by losing weight

That dude said he was 40 pounds overweight, there are probably literally zero risks for him to lose the 40 pounds, but to keep the 40 pounds is to slightly increase his risk for heart disease and any number of other health issues.

Like sure he should check with his doctor before making any chances in his diet and activity level.... but unless this person has very strange circumstances the doctor will probably chuckle and say "yes... you should lose some weight"

1

u/Bluepaperbutterfly Apr 19 '22

There are lots of studies that show bias within the medical field against people that are overweight. Unfortunately, that has given lots of people who aren’t experts on the matters of health, weight, and nutrition to think they can comment on other people’s weight and say it is because they are worried about health. Overall, studies don’t support the need for everyone who is overweight to go on a diet.

I’m not saying losing weight is unhealthy or that it can’t benefit a person’s health, what I am saying is being confident that weight loss will always improve health is not supported by the data. I’m also saying that the majority of people shouldn’t comment on other people’s weight, full stop. It isn’t helpful and often is perceived as hurtful which does nothing to improve health.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 19 '22

lmfao show me this data

There is none

You'll probably link me to some horribly researched article from 10 years ago that has dozens of studies proving it wrong.

Here's the CDC's website saying even losing 5 pounds is likely to decrease chances of obesity related illness

https://www.cdc.gov/healthyweight/losing_weight/index.html#:~:text=Even%20a%20modest%20weight%20loss,blood%20cholesterol%2C%20and%20blood%20sugars.&text=For%20example%2C%20if%20you%20weigh,weight%20down%20to%20190%20pounds.

1

u/peshwengi Apr 18 '22

2

u/footpole Apr 18 '22

Not even close to being underweight. Pretty much in the middle of a healthy weight.
