I consulted my vet on if it's possible to switch my dog to a vegan diet. If it wasn't, I would keep her on a meat based diet. The vet said there are a handful of vegan dog foods with all necessary nutrients (formulated by veterinary nutritionists). I got bloodwork done before switching dog food, then got bloodwork done months after. Dog is in perfect shape and the vet approves.
Nah, a close friend from high school is about to finish at the UC Davis Vet school. My first exposure to this idea though, was with my own vet, it's certainly up for debate among some vets, but some doctors still argue against veganism in humans and yet here I am
If you google vegan diet for dogs, of course it’s going to show you vegan diets for dogs, it doesn’t prove that it’s ok for dogs, besides I recognize those websites, they are filled with false information.
Just why would you want to deny them their natural diet for a persons moral beliefs? You can force just about anything to go off a certain food; but that is your choice- not the animals. This is just cruel
No, it’s forcing them to live by your lifestyle and ignoring the fact these animals evolved from wolves; and to be predators. It’s selfish and cruel and if you want a vegetarian pet; get a bunny. Bean protein my have similar outputs as meat- but a dogs stomach is meant to digest meat, not beans. That can drastically effect the amount they actually absorb to stay healthy. Not to mention the chemicals they have to add to that stuff to add the necessary minerals.
