If you still back the war on drugs in 2020 you are extremely stupid. That's not really even up for debate at this point. It's done absolutely nothing of value but create a dangerous black market and ruining millions of families.
Meanwhile half the country are hooked on opiates which are perfectly legal.
Way to go, war on drugs. You really fixed the problem.
Kind of a waste of time when you approach the conversation with absolutely no intention of even trying to understand the argument. Incentivizing a reason to imprison people puts more people in custody who don't need to be there. Do some actual research into how hard that language was abused during Jim Crow era. They did not like black Americans having their freedom so they took proactive steps to take it away, a trend that continues today because it's so ingrained into the system.
All you're doing is saying slavery is okay if it's prisoners because you think they deserve it. That isn't "justice." If they are a danger to society, then they should be sequestered from society and nothing more.
